2: Who am i?

21 YEARS LATER

The Year 2023

[Karrin]

"Call Miss Karrin" The maid nodded her head and moved upstairs. She kept moving until she reached her door, she knocked three times and when it seemed there was no answer, she knocked a bit loudly.

"What is it?" a sleepy feminine voice answered. The maid sighed in relief, "Miss, your mother is calling you"

"Tell mom, I will come later…need to sleep", still half asleep she answered.

The maid hesitated and answered, "But miss, your elder brother is also here and well …he seems a little angry, he said that if you won't come …your credit card will be blocked for this whole month"

Inside the room, hearing this Karrin suddenly sat furiously and answered, "What? Wasn't he supposed to come tomorrow?". She sighed and said, "ok, you go I am coming"

She yawned loudly and looked around the room, it was fully painted in light purple color, with a matching dressing table, a study table at another corner and beautiful curtains blocking sunlight to enter Between the room was a big magnificent bed with lavender bedsheet. The bed was messy with Karrin sitting in between with a half-open novel at one side and a laptop with headphones at the other side.

She picked up her phone from the side table and looked at the time, "What? It's only 10 am. Seriously?"

She picked up the novel and stood up on the bed there were racks full of novels attached to the wall behind the bed. She put the novel back in the rack and picked up her laptop and headphones from the other side and walked towards the study table. She arranged the laptop and headphones on the table. The room was connected to a bathroom and her personal wardrobe. She went to the bathroom washed her face and tried to somehow arrange her hair. Without even looking in the mirror she opened her door and went downstairs.

The house looked the same as it looked 24 years later, just with a little difference of a family photo of their five-membered family on the wall. There were total 7 pictures that had the same background and positions of family members but the difference was in ages.

In the first picture, Karrin was two years old, in the second five years, in the third ten years, in the fourth fifteen years, in the fifth eighteen years, in the sixth twenty years, and finally, in the seventh picture, they took last week twenty-two years old.

Karrin always loved this wall it has its own unique place in her heart. She looked towards the sofa in the middle of the room she could see the back of a man and her mother who was facing her. She clearly had a bad feeling about this.

Karrin quickly walked towards the sofa where her mother was sitting, she put her head on the lap of her mother and lay down on the sofa. "Good morning, mom", she said. Ms. Karrin stroked her daughter's hair and replied, "Good morning honey, your brother is also here greet him"

"Oh! Is he? Well …good morning then" without even looking at his face she greeted quite rudely.

His brother on the other hand was watching her with his eyes narrowed "good morning little princess… mom guess where as soon as I returned from business trip went?" Karrin sat up straight on sofa and poured herself some tea ☕ Her mom looked up from her phone and said, "didn't you directly come home?". Up till now Karrin didn't show any kind of interest in this conversation she was quietly taking small sips from her tea. "no" her brother said with a smirk "I went to your princess's university" Karrin suddenly choked on mouthful of tea and all the attention was diverted on her.

Oh god! I was right he was definitely up to no good…no mom will be really angry I have to do somethingshe thought while her mother gently massaged her back.

"So, I was saying…" his brother continued when she returned to normal. Karrin quickly jumped to his brother sofa took a biscuit from table and stuffed it in his brother mouth…

"You should rest first brother we can talk about it later… right mom?", she said while pleading to her brother with her eyes… her mom nodded while scrolling through her phone, "ah! You are in top search again honey." William eyes narrowed

"Am I? leave it mom I will see it later", Karrin said while still looking towards William who seemed to be rather angry over this.

She took her brother arm and said, "brother you need rest …come on let's talk to your room."

They started walking up the stairs toward William's room.

When they were out of their mother sight her brother pulled her ear "ahhh" she said. "Brother I am your only sister you can't kill me"

"You have been missing lectures…and have been continuously on hot search throughout this month. will you explain?" William scolded her

"I will not leave again. plz brother leave my ear it is going to come out" she pleaded

"Ok… but if you miss lectures again ..."

"I will not."" she cut him. "I swear" she raised her three fingers and took an oath.

William sighed and went to his room just when she was going back, he came back and said, "here it's your present." With that he throwed the gift towards her.

Karrin eyes suddenly shine when she opened the gift, "is this?"

"yeah" he responded and quickly closed the door.

She smiled

It's the necklace worth millions that she has eye set on since it was created…the necklace symbolizing darkness and light side by side named, "Dark angel"

Although her brother is quite strict but he loves her the most…every time he plans to scold her, he buys her a gift so she won't stay sad for long…

She happily run towards her room and closed the door. The curtains were open and bed was cleaned now. She stood in front of her dressing room and tried on the necklace. She was admiring its beauty when she suddenly noticed a small flower at corner it was quite familiar.

"It looks just like…", she said while tilting her towards her left shoulder she removes her night gown their it was her birth mark ...

"How strange I never saw any flower similar to this." She touched her birthmark and then the flower on necklace, "oww! What the…?" there was something sharp there it pricked her fingers.

Blood from her finger touched the necklace and suddenly the necklace releasing large amount of golden light from it which reflected back to her after touching mirror.

Suddenly her appearance changed her brown hair turned to golden her eyes turned from brown to sea blue…she looked more beautiful…

"What is happening?" she said …but was no longer feeling okay… Her breath hitched; a silent gasp suspended in the air. The world around her began to spin, a carousel of colors blurring into indistinct shapes.

She reached out, grasping for something, anything, to anchor her to reality, but found only the void. Her knees buckled, as if strings had been cut by an unseen puppeteer, and the ground rushed up to meet her.

Darkness crept in from the edges of her vision, a creeping tide of oblivion that washed over her senses.

With a final flutter of her eyelids, like the delicate wings of a butterfly in flight, she succumbed to the encroaching night, her consciousness slipping away into the silent embrace of the unknown…

"Who-what a-am I?" were the last words she stuttered
