A feast fit for a Queen

"Let's feast"

At the dining hall.

-Are we really going to eat the food knowing it's poisoned?-

-Yes. Jacob. We can't be rude!-

-Rude??? Your worried about looking rude.... I'm worried about our safety-

"Come come. Let's eat. We prepared a feast for for a Queen, literally" Leon said as he winked at me

"You are truly insane, thinking we would eat, knowing it's poisoned" Jacob said

"Ah. But you will, if you want to get into the Malatein palace."

-Jacob. Don't eat enough that it puts you in a deep sleep. Only one of us needs to eat enough to do that. And if we our to play our roles then it must be me who goes into a deep sleep -

"Alright. But as we eat I think you and I should chat."

"Deal." Leon said.

"So. Why is it the Captain of the guard is not imprisoned with the royal family?"

"Straight to the point. I like it."

"Well?"

"The King ordered me to take as many of his people to the town. He said 'there is no kingdom without its people.'"

"There is also no kingdom without its crown" I spoke.

"Very true, Altza, but I ask you? Which is worse no people for a king to fight for or no king for a people to stand for?"

"Both. A kingdom can not live with out its crown or its people."

AHHH

"Jacob??"

I turn towards Jacob. He was doubled over in pain. His eyes blood red.

-I'll wake up before you. Watch your back, until you sleep-

And with that he fell.

"Now for the real talking."

"You know, that when you sleep, they will know. They will know that you have been poisoned. Just like Jacob's brothers will know."

"I do. But knowing about it and doing anything about it are two different things."

"You truly believe they will turn the other way??"

"They will. They can not interfere, they do so I will no longer be denied."

"Wrong. For two reasons. One: they are royals, there is nothing they can not do. You are too important for them to loose you. Two: they can not drastically interfere. Meaning they can't be seen as outwardly helping you."

"Perhaps you are right. But you only know them, the way they want you to know them."

"Ohh?? And how do you know them??"

"I.... I... I'm not..."
