Chapter 2

Not a single citizen was able to concentrate, and the cheering stopped instantly. Who would dare to not only disrupt the crowning but would also do it by declaring war against the church, an unshakable force within the city?

Suddenly, a man walked through the crowd that was in front of the church as he casually placed his bow on his back and withdrew two daggers from his sides.

This man wore a white hooded drifter type of outfit that had a symbol on the back of it covered in dark blue. The symbol was the shape of a bolt of lightning, and it carried with it a sense of justice that struck down all that was evil within the world.

"No wonder that man declared war in such a way against the church. That symbol signifies that he is part of the Crimson Tower. He must be one of their field agents, tasked to destroy all that is unholy in these remote parts. But why would he appear now instead of during the night when they would least expect it?"

"The Crimson Tower's field agents like to be flashier, especially in places like our city that struggle to sustain our population and feed ourselves. If the rumours are correct, this field agent will be able to single-handedly wipe out all the members of this church. It is too bad that the Crimson Tower only destroys and does not help rebuild, otherwise I would be happier."

The citizens who recognized the symbol on the man's back quickly spread the information out of what it signified and what this meant for their city. Though the dark church did not help the city prosper on a large scale, it still took in many believers and followers from the city and gave them more strength. Without such a power doing at least that for some of the citizens, the city might finally collapse under its large population but poverty.

"Ah, so the Crimson Tower finally sent out a field agent to wage a war against us here?" with an evil chuckle, the leader of the dark church was standing at the top of a large staircase which was covered in followers.

"Unfortunately for you, we have already made the proper preparations to deal with the likes of only a simple field agent!" now laughing uncontrollably, the leader of the church within the city snapped his fingers as the followers on the stairs all started to morph into monstrous type creatures.

"So, you convinced those citizens to give up their souls in order to gain such an insignificant amount of power like this? I lost track of how many evil creatures I have slain just because of the ignorance of the people who were taken advantage of."

There were over thirty followers and they all transformed into gargoyle type evil creatures that looked as if they flew out of the underworld to appear here. They wasted no time, as they flew towards this field agent with their full speed while screeching.

"Forgive them, for they know not what they do." The field agent said before dashing forward to meet with the first two creatures that appeared before him first.

With a stabbing motion, the man was able to quickly slay the two gargoyles. However, the man's face was filled with sorrow for the fact that they were once innocent citizens. Next, the man landed a high kick onto another gargoyle before jumping back onto the wall behind him.

"Kill him quickly or your god will be vengeful towards all of you regardless of your worth for it!" shouted the leader of the dark church as he quickly ran into the room next to him, with two gargoyles protecting him from the back.

"Not even I could take down so many gargoyle type creatures by myself without a big suit of battle armour. He is a field agent though, so I must move quickly and abandon them here just in case. If they can slay him, they can eat the rest of the citizens of this city as a reward and quickly follow behind me back to our main headquarters." The leader thought as he felt the floor below him shake uncontrollably like there was an earthquake forming.
