CHAPTER 78

In Ra heard Dae Hyun's voice resonating from her phone she had connected to the bug she planted on Da Yeon's body. It was clearly obvious that he was aware of a third person and he was passing a clear warning to her. Her whole body shuddered in fear as she heard Da Yeon's spine tingling screams and cries of pain, her hands trembled and her lips quivered uncontrollably from the ear piercing screams of Da Yeon.

"Don't even think of sending this recording to the police, it's useless and not enough evidence to incriminate me, so when the next time you try to outsmart me, I'll come after you." Dae Hyun's voice was low and dangerous and her heart skipped a beat. He was right, the recording wasn't enough evidence to put him behind bars for life as it was impossible to know who the voice belonged to when some men had deep voices.

Da Yeon's bone shilling screams finally stopped, making the other end quiet and In Ra knew she was dead, they had been friends for six years and she felt bad about her death but at that moment, her safety was her top priority and she couldn't think of anyone but herself. Her breath was rough and ragged from fear and she used the sleeve of her dress to wipe the sweat that had broke on her forehead even though her room temperature wasn't hot.

Her heart pounded heavily in her chest when the bug abruptly got disconnected, her toes curled in an alarming way, knowing Dae Hyun might come for her if she said a word to anyone, but she would never make that mistake of risking her safety to put him behind bars, she didn't care about that, no, only her safety mattered to her and no one else's. She believed that if she didn't say a word to anyone, she would be safe from the hands of the killer and luck was on her side as he didn't even know who she was or even asked Da Yeon who she was, so she let that thought comfort her instead.

Only she and Da Yeon had known about her plans and no one else, so with Da Yeon gone, her secrets had died with her and Dae Hyun would never have knowledge of her. Da Yeon's death was a mistake but it was also a good riddance for her, as the killer would never know who she was, so she would keep a low profile and avoid catching Dae Hyun's attention.

In Ra took in a deep breath and let herself relax, she thought she was overreacting, Da Yeon was dead, but it wouldn't affect her in anyway and moreover, Dae Hyun would still kill Yoo Na, if not for her then for himself since Da Yeon had told him she was after him, so he had a motive to kill her, she never planned for Da Yeon's death but it was like killing two birds with one stone. Da Yeon wouldn't be alive to reveal her secrets to anyone and Yoo Na will be gotten rid of.

A small smile crept to her lips and her eyes glinted darkly at her thoughts. Now, she just had to act unsuspicious and get Da Yeon's death done and over with, she knew the news of Da Yeon's death would reach every edge of the country as she was the daughter of an aristocrat. She laid in her bed and stopped thinking about it as she closed her eyes to sleep, she had to act oblivious to it, whether in private or in public, she didn't know what happened to Da Yeon or who the anonymous gift killer was, she didn't know a thing.

Da Yeon's body was found the next day by Seokchon lakeside, butchered brutally after her teeth was been delivered to her parents. The news of Da Yeon's death spread like a virus and everyone became horrified and hopeless. If a daughter of a wealthy man could be killed without anyone's knowledge or evidence, then no one was safe.

Everyone started suspecting the anonymous gift killer was going after a particular set of people like they had assumed, first it was students, then it was workers and now it was rich people, staring with miss Lee and now the daughter of Chairman Soo of Soo corporations.

As usual, the picture of Da Yeon's butchered body was uploaded on social media which broke throughout the net within hours, everyone was petrified by the goriness of the murder, it was a heart wrenching image to look at and fear gripped the city of seoul as the whole place was in a turmoil from panic. Because of the anonymous gift killer and his gruesome murders, individuals had moved out of their homes and left the city behind to move to a safer place, at least until the psychopathic serial killer was found.

Elites High was in a state of ruckus as the students had knowledge of Da Yeon's death, which was unexpected. A student went home crying hysterically after seeing the image of Da Yeon's butchered corpse, it was a traumatizing scene to look at and it was clear that the anonymous gift killer was sending a spine chilling message, he was untouchable and he was dangerous, no one was above him to kill and no matter how wealthy they were, they weren't invisible.

School was dull and full of panic, the students were in a state of uproar from shock and the teachers weren't exempted from the fear caused by the serial killer. Classes were dismissed early as the students were too traumatized to learn a thing and the teachers were too shocked to teach.

In Ra tried to act as unsuspicious as she could, she equally had a petrified look on her face as all the other students with eyes widened in denial even if she had made peace with the death of Da Yeon long since the previous night. Her body trembled and large droplets of tears flowed down her cheeks as she sobbed hard, the students hovered around her, trying to comfort her since they knew she was closer with Da Yeon.

Yoo Na got news about the death of Da Yeon, it was everywhere on the net and the school was filled with fearsome talks about it, so she had to know, even if she didn't want to. She wasn't a fan of Da Yeon but the girl didn't deserve to die in such a gruesome way. She wondered how she even came across the anonymous gift killer, it was weird to her but she pushed it aside, knowing anyone could be a victim.

She watched In Ra from her seat as she cried hysterically for her friend who died in such a torturous way but her instincts told her it was all a show she was putting on, in the few months she had known In Ra, she knew that In Ra never really liked Da Yeon, they seemed close because they were always seen together but a closer look and one would realize that she didn't really care about her, she was just hanging out with her because they were both from the top wealthy families in South Korea.

Da Yeon was too soft and dimwitted, she wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the room and observing In Ra who was vile and a selfish narcissistic, they wouldn't really click and she wouldn't really care about her, so watching her cry so deeply for Da Yeon was suspicious, knowing In Ra, she wouldn't care to pretend but there she was, throwing all her acting skills to good use, she could fool them all with her acting skills but she couldn't fool her.

A thousand suspicious thoughts ran through her mind, many what ifs played around her head. What if...In Ra knew something about Da Yeon's death?
