Chapter 1 - Changing Worlds

"DEKU!" I hear someone shouting, I slowly open one of my eyes, remembering where I am, school. "What time is it?" I say in a sleepy voice. "It's lunch, Deku!" I see my classmate and childhood friend, Jess, but over the years we both came up with nicknames for each other. Of course, mine being Deku and her's being Akiko. We both got into Japanese culture when we were younger and both choose Japanese for each other if was our way of know who each other lost contact. I based her name on autumn, because of the season she was born in, but for me, she must have read what it meant wrong because it actually means weak, or useless, but I don't mind all that much, it was just something the two of us would use anyways. Getting out of my seat I yawn, and stretch my arms out, making my shoulders, elbows, wrists, and fingers crack. "You've got to stop doing that Deku! It's going to hurt you!" I hear Akiko as she elbows my shoulder. "I need to crack the bones, I need to the air bubbles out of my body!" I say to her trying to act mean, but I couldn't keep a straight face for too long before we both burst out laughing. "Deku you make that sound so creepy!!" Akiko says in between laughs. "Come on let's get some lunch class will be starting again in 25 minutes," I say after we both calm down from our laughing fit. Before looking at her and seeing her face I know what going to be coming next- "FOOOOOOOOD!!!!" I simply smile at her as she starts to run out of the room. "Wait for me, Akiko!"

~After School~

I sigh as I wave goodbye to Akiko, and start the walk home. We live on opposite sides of the city so we don't get a chance to talk on the way home, but it is what it is.

I find myself humming about halfway through my walk home, I would normally stop myself, but I don't really care today. I've been thinking things like that a lot lately, and I think it's scaring me a bit. It started with just some little stuff, like not brushing my teeth at night but now it's like my mind is changing and not for the better either. I sigh as I see my street come into view, 'finally' I think to myself as I start to pick up my pace, so I can plan my experiment for tonight.

As I walk through the door, I find it unlocked which was something that has never happened before, but it's probably nothing.

~1:00 Am - Time of plan~

I look out of my window making sure that I wanted to do this, but I'm awake now so it's now or never. Sitting on the ledge of my window I make a game plan, I've been working on this for over a month so I had to get it right. I scan the area making sure that none of the neighbours are still awake, and luckily there was no one in sight. Taking a deep breath I make the jump, turning around quickly and pushing myself off of the brick wall, making it only the ground with only a sore ankle. I stay still for a couple of seconds making sure no one woke up before moving into the underground bunker we had, Dad always told us not to go in there, so we didn't, but I was 14 now and I wanted to know for myself. The only entrance into the bunker was a big thick metal door, so I grabbed it and yanked it open in one shot, jumping in and slamming it down afterwards so that it would make a quick noise, and hopefully not make an echo. I rush around to see the thing Dad had been talking so much about to Mum behind our backs, when I see it, what looked like a portal of some sorts with a colour plate. Of course, I go for an army green before pressing enter, when all of a sudden the portal its self turns shining with the green I choose just before, but before I even get a chance to possess what is happening a robotic voice starts talking to me. "Get ready Mr Midoriya, you are entering another dimension, in 3, 2, 1."
