Risky Turn

This was my first mission with this group which has Faye the Slayer, Fido the leader and Jin the planner. We had already decided to split as there were three monsters and both groups decided to go for two of them at the same time.

Faye was fighting against that monster with her group meanwhile on the other side I was with Fido and we were going after the second monster towards the right.

(Meanwhile on the Right - Davis and Fido...)

"Get ready Fido. We are going for it." I said.

"Just don't die on me or else everyone will blame me for your death. *smiles*" Fido replied.

"Let's see if I can prove you wrong or not. Let's meet on the top... of that monsters head." I replied.

We got split and I rushed ahead head on towards that monster. I was not afraid of it but I was also not careless to just go and hit my head first on the wall. I was cautious of the monsters movements and I pulled my blade out.

With my running velocity and added more power to my attack and stabbed that monster while wielding my blade with both hands.

The monster felt that and it was searching for me but I was already in his blind spot. I was moved quickly and dealt my second blow, a similar attack on that exact location.

I was hoping for that monster to fall on its knee and for Fido to be in the position to reach its head. I was being cautious but on the third attack that monster noticed me and swung his arm. The strength of the arm was enough to crush me but I managed to dodge it still the force from that swing destroyed the nearby houses and my hiding spots too.

It was getting worse, but the worst that I imagined was not even close to this, so I was ready for something like this. I got hurt but these were mere scratches in front of the wounds I had before.

As derbies fall all over the area, that monster was searching for me. I took that smoke from debris collapsing as a camouflage for me. With that diversion I snucked in my third attack at the same position and tear apart that chunk from his leg.

Finally he was down on that knee so I started climbing over its body. He was trying to get up but was still struggling to balance himself. His movements were making my movements slower and it was getting harder for me to climb as I can't use my blade here or else everything might fall apart. I needed to balance myself according to his movements.

I was slowly getting towards its neck so I took a turn from there to avoid any eye contact and continued my high climbing.

When I was almost at the top, he stood up and started moving his body. It was like that monster knew that someone is on him. With his random movements my grip was getting loose. So I decided to jump and climb up, but my timing was off, and their was no other choice than to use my blade.

By taking a deep breathe *sigh* I stabbed the back of that monster's neck. I did it to made my grip strong, but that also alerted that monster about my location. I was full aware of my actions, and what these actions can result in this situation.

The monster's hands were closing in on me, and I was climbing upwards while dodging them. I was close towards the top so I decided to jump, and at the same time... I saw that monster's hand coming towards me.

At that moment, I was in a difficult situation because I was mid-air and couldn't dodge it. And if that hand hits me, I might be a dead goner or at least I might fall down and everything would be lost.

At that moment I was thinking about every possible thing I could do. But then I remembered the crucial point, the advantage that I had... the backup... the one thing I left for a dire situation like this. I shouted. "HELP!!!"

Suddenly Fido jumped and attacked that monster's hand. He attacked and jumped off that hand quickly and regrouped with me towards the head. That distraction made my jump successful and I was able to reach the top of the monsters head.

"Huh *smirks*. So much for being able to kill a monster alone." said Fido.

"Yeah. It's a shame that I have to share this victory with you of all people." I replied.

"Let's end this then." said Fido.

"Let's end this." I replied.

We both took our weapons and jumped straight up to get gravity help increase our attack force. We both wielded our weapons with both hands and aimed for the same spot.

"Die you MONSTER!!!" Fido shouted.

"Blood Cursed Sword... Let's END THIS!!!" I shouted while attacking.

We attacked at the same time on the same spot. The energy by our attacks pierced into the monsters body and that monster just stopped moving.

It was like a shock wave passed through a body which just silenced everything inside that body. The monster slowly started to fall so we jumped towards the top of the house near it. We didn't stay their because we got the signal from Faye's group that they had taken down their monster.

Well, we felt that blast but couldn't hear or see anything that could distract us while distracting a monster. We also signalled that we did our job too. With everything going well so far, there was just one problem, it was that we took more time than we estimated which can happen in such situations, but it was way more than estimated.

Because of this, the third monster was already moving towards the first group. By seeing that, we decided to run towards them.

The fatigue was still keeping our bodies from moving at our top speed, but we were moving at our best pace after that fight.

"We have to reach there as fast as we could." said Fido.

"The monster is still far from them because Jin and others are distracting it by the smaller explosions they have set." I replied.

Suddenly... the monster shifted his movements and quickly turned towards Faye's group. It was like he used intelligence and was slowly moving towards Faye's group from the get go.

"He changed its movements, and is right now going towards Faye's group." I said.

"How can that be? Hey, that's the retreat smoke." said Fido.

We could see a grayish smoke which means, time to regroup for everyone. This was also a good signal which meant that Jin's team is still safe.

"We need to hurry. Let's increase our pace." said Fido.

We were exhausted from that fight but decided to move as quickly as possible.

(Meanwhile towards the Left - Faye's group...)

"Come on everyone. We have to move to a safer location. Jin has sent that smoke signal so he is safe. We should focus on regrouping and attack that monster with everyone." said Faye.

"Aye Slayer." everyone replied.

"The second monster is falling down." One of them said.

"So they really pulled that off." Faye said to herself.

"Focus on our task. They can be hurt and exhausted so don't expect any help coming from them in the meantime. They might come to help us but we can't wait till then. We will initiate our attack when we regroup with Jin's team." said Faye.

"Yes Mam." said everyone.

"I hope you both are safe. This all has to happen because for generating my attack I need sometime. It is a rather slow process but the payback is big. That's why I need people to distract those monsters. " Faye says to herself.

(Meanwhile on the Right - Davis and Fido...)

"Do you think we can make there in time?" Fido asked.

"We are already behind the schedule so there is no point in thinking about that. We just need to hurry. That's all there is to it." I replied.

(Regroup on one Tower. Faye's and Jin's team...)

"Both groups did well by taking down their respective monsters. Both did there job but we can't wait any longer." said Jin.

"Yes. The monster is closing in on us." said Faye.

"Faye go take your position and don't move much. That power takes load on your body, so just focus on attacking and leave the distraction to us." said Jin.

"Yeah yeah, I know that Jin." Faye replied.

"Everyone, get ready. All six of you divide into groups of three and distract that monster till she is ready to attack." said Jin.

"Yes Sir." said Everyone.

They were feared but knew that this had to be done. The success of this attack will be decided on how much they can keep that monster away from here.

Faye took the position on a roof top and started build her attack. The others were trying to distract that monster.

"Others are fighting on the front lines but I... I have to hide behind the walls after giving others, the order to die for it. I.. I feel so frustrated when this happens." Jin said to himself.

It was because Jin is not a combatant, and the only planner. He only comes up with the plan and direct orders, but can't go into the attack. It is not that bad, but in a situation like this, you can't always be dependent on anyone.

Everything was going according to the plan, but suddenly the monster made a huge turn and rushed towards the location where Faye was getting ready to attack. Everyone panicked as they knew that their distraction had failed, and Faye was in danger.

Faye was able to see that monster coming straight for her but she can't just fire an incomplete attack and lose this chance, so she held onto the attack.

The monster was closing in, and their was nothing that Jin and the others could do at that time. That's when a sudden entry appeared.

At that moment, I jumped along with Fido. We attacked that monsters leg to delay its movements. We reached their in a moment's time but we were already exhausted so our attack didn't pack that punch we wanted, but it stopped the monster for a moment.

As it swung his arm we both dodged by jumping. We barely avoided the direct hit, but still took the damage. I tried to block the attack, but that monster's hand grazed my blade and I was thrown towards the wall.

I took a hit and my body was stunned, but it gave the time that she needed to complete her attack.

"No!!!" Faye screamed. But she controlled her emotions as she couldn't lose this opportunity.

"I can't give up on this opportunity they have created this by risking their lives. I can't lose focus." Faye said to herself.

"DIE you MONSTER!!!" Faye shouted.

She fired her arrows... and it hit its mark. It was a huge blast which blew that monster's body. It's filth was scattered all over that place.

Everyone was happy that the mission was a success, without facing any casualties. Everyone started regrouping and Fido and I were also slowly moving towards them. Faye was moving down the roof too but at that moment, a murderous intent hit my spine. My senses got sharpened and suddenly a man jumped over Faye.

In that moment, my body was not in good condition, yet, it responded quickly to that feeling and moved closer to her. It was like a surge of energy burned inside of me. This happens to people when they are suddenly able to do things which are humanly impossible. This sudden hyper adrenaline rush is what scientist called the 'hysterical strength'.

"Faye Watch Out!" said Fido.

Faye was turning towards that man, but at that moment... I sliced him open with my blade. It happened in an instant that everything stopped. The wind, the people, the environment... everything just got silenced. His blood was on my hands. My blade was drenched in his blood.

When I slashed that man, the blood also splashed a bit on Faye's face.

At that moment, I didn't thought that this guy might have his own family to protect. He is also trying to survive like us. He... he might also be messed up by everything around him.

There... *heavy breathing* there was just a single thought on my mind at that time... - Don't.. Let.. Anyone.. Die.. whom you really care for.

"Da... Da... Davis." Faye said in a scared voice.

"Don't worry. It's all OK now." I replied in a calm yet frightened voice.

"You... you killed that guy." said Faye, still scared from all this.

When I looked at her, I could see fear and discomfort. This was the feeling she never felt when she was with me all this time. Even when she told me about her past, she... she was not this scared to face me. This was the first time I saw fear in her eyes. And it was... it was painful to watch.

It was not just her, but everyone else were also looking towards me with a frightened look.

All the happy faces that I saw before this missions was staring at me like I am a criminal or murderer. All the smiles that I saw when we defeated those monsters, just... vanished in thin air.

"I... I won't let you kill another person." I said this while blood dripping from my head.

"I... I won't let you walk... that violent path ever again." I said while holding my tears in.

I was standing there looking at her. I was happy for her to be safe, but my heart was getting heavier.

"I won't let that personality of... *gulps* that personality of yours to come back again. So just... relax... OK." I replied while tears dripping along with the blood on my face.

The red blood droplets were falling on the ground. With that, everyone left that place without saying a word to anyone. We all just walked towards our base without making any eye contact and with an expression of 'what the heck did we just witnessed here'.

That's how my First Mission with this group ended.
