Once I arrived I told Enna to stay in the car. In case things got ugly, of course. She reluctantly agreed and I entered the guild hall.
A man behind the front desk gave an ugly smirk and spoke in a tone I could only call lecherous. "Oh, Dionysus have you come to-"
I slapped the man behind the desk before he could finish his sentence and walked in. "I will never accept a date with a low life, and number two, it is Miss Athea to you, and third I am your superior. Though i suppose for not much longer."
He held his face and was bent over slightly on the ground. It seemed I didn't hit him hard enough. It was whatever though and I walked straight in as he reached for the phone.
I made my way through the offices. Passing through like a storm I watched many side eyes and weird looks. It seemed the change in attire was extreme in their eyes. I made it to the office I was looking for.
A bleak space that was barely used. Well it still had a use, it had a few books and a dusty desk. I opened the bottom of the desk up and took out a couple of files. I rolled my eyes, Dionysus was really to paranoid, but it worked out. The files were embezzlement studies.
Honestly how Dionysus got them, beat me. However as I flipped through them I found a specific page. Reading, 'Opposition report, Team Tyfold.' I had to role my eyes who names something Tyfold. That however didn't matter what did, was who was on the team.
The three little pigs two of which I killed and the last was in my possession. A broad shoulder man with bronze hair slammed open the door of the old office. "DIONYSUS! You dare slap one of the guild's most valuable members."
I recognized the man as my brother. His level was high, but low compared to my true level. He stood at level 56 and was relatively decent. Sadly his stats were close to mine. He had all the resources to max them out. Though this was only relative to his vitality and endurance.
I gave a mocking smile, "A half-wit at level 17 is more important than your sister at level 47? I never knew you had such a dystopian view of family."
His face paled slightly before he quipped back. "We both know you don't view this guild as anything more than a way to make money. You are nothing but a dirty rat who contributes nothing to our guild. While Gr-"
"Contributes? HA! HAHAHA! You mean the Iridian apple I gave to the guild is nothing? Since that is nothing I suppose my existence at the guild is pointless... To the point where my dear brother tries to kill me."
I emphasized this last part just as three people from the association walked in. It was Ethan Hobbs the man who gave me his card. I called him saying I may have information that I hadn't connected previously.
Ethan looked rather pissed, likely because the three piggies were dead, well except the mute who's just a soul currently. My dear brother face shifted in shock and silence. Ethan held up a badge, "Ethan Hobbs Association's Detective. I'm in a hurry so I won't use the full title."
I handed over the files in my hand and he flipped through them as my brother tried to stammer through a sentence. Ethan looked up form the files, "Yeah the description of the guardian does fit the description of the guardian we arrested. We looked into his past and this file address one such event as well. I'm glad you remembered this Miss Dionysus."
I shrugged, but my brother pushed himself into the conversation. "Eh, May I ask what is..."
Ethan looked at my brother, "Mister Franzice, I believe it is in your best interest to cooperate. You see recently, as I am sure you know. Miss Dionysus was attacked and her Niece that was in her care was assassinated. Now the problem is that the assassins were all killed. So now... I believe you have the intelligence to cooperate."
My brother paused and froze in place. From the stupid look on his face I sighed. He didn't send the assassin after me. No easy solution to the revenge contract I was bound to. My sigh caught alarm though as Ethan looked at me.
I caught myself, "Did they really die?"
Ethan nodded and I gave a perturbed frown. My brother rubbed the back of his head, "Ah, well I guess I can. I'm just the manager of the guild though. The uh higher members of the family might just ignore me entirely an-"
Ethan shook his head, "Mister Franzice, I didn't ask about your family. I am well aware of how your family works and while you may believe shifting blame will help you. It only makes you an accomplice to murder, and attempted murder."
He didn't specify murder of an awakener, which means he doesn't cross the line. It seems he is variably just... I chose to interrupt. "Actually I doubt the fool knows anything. We don't have the same mother so he just hates me and my mother for replacing his 'family.' At most he is a pawn in my Aunt's schemes."
Ethan nodded, "Very well, since Miss Dionysus vouches for your stupidity I will take that in account."
I sat down as my brother froze and questioned what just happened. I could read his status and knew that his intelligence reached its limit. This was due to a condition in his status called intelligence cursed. Poor bastard was set to fail. Telling his position in the family I could guess who cursed him. The thing about curses is that they are rather complicated.
Most can't actually detect them and you won't see what they are on the status menu unless you have the ability to see them. I assume he was cursed with stupidity due to one of his blessings called Rebel Warning.
Had no idea what it did, but at this point I was just staring off in space. As Ethan talked to everyone. His partners were speaking to other guild members. For now though I was just filling my thoughts until a time I could leave the guild, permanently.
Honestly I could play around a bit and hurt some feelings and humiliate others. Idling away was rather boring... Nah, it was too much effort for these idiots. The people at the family guild didn't even view me in a terrible light. Except for the guy I slapped. He was the friend of my brother and just recently awakened. hence why Franzice came over to confront me.
Hm, speaking of. I wondered who would actually come to Artem's funeral. I doubted Franzice would. Aunt Cassidy might though. She was technically Artem's mother on paper. I assume shes the one the revenge contract is for. I'll know when I meet her.
