Chapter 121 - Round Two [2]

The next day, as usual, I was the first to wake up. Technically, I don't need to sleep as often anymore, but that doesn't matter right now. Outside, a thick fog covered the landscape, making it hard to see far ahead.

My gaze naturally fixated on the mountain peak. It would take maybe another thirty minutes of walking to get there. He was probably already waiting for us. For some reason, that thought made my body shudder. I wasn't exactly scared, but I couldn't say I wasn't either.

The minutes dragged on as countless thoughts raced through my mind. Curiously, many of them had nothing to do with the current situation. I found myself wondering if Ruby was eating well in my absence and other trivial matters, like how much my college grades might drop because of this.
