Missions!

~One Week Later!~

Time had quickly passed since that intense training session in the Celestial Star Realm. Over the next couple of days since that session, Kayn continued to train Kara to control her power.

However, now there was a bit of a break in their training due to school restarting. After a week of re-construction and planning from the State Government, National City Technical High School finally reopened.

At that, Kara was currently approaching the front gate of the school, alongside her sister Alex. A swarm of various students could be seen around them, hurrying inside while the loud echo of various discussions boomed across the surrounding area.

However, near the entrance to the school, Kara noticed Kayn and blushed. After training with him all those days, she had naturally picked up on his scent, and now was able to easily pick him out in a crowd.

He was standing near the school building's entrance, casually leaning against the fence while dressed in a dark, well-fitted jacket and jeans, with a relaxed posture.

As Kara and Alex moved closer and closer, his gaze shifted and locked with hers, a hint of a smile immediately tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Alex nudged her lightly with her elbow, "You gonna introduce us, or are you two... officially together now?" She arched a brow, an amused look crossing her face as she watched the slight blush creeping up Kara's cheeks.

Kara's face went scarlet. "A-Alex!" She stammered, giving her sister a light shove. "Don't embarrass me."

Alex smirked, obviously unconvinced, but didn't press further. Instead, she stepped back with a shrug, hands in her pockets, "Alright, alright. I'll let it go... for now."

Kara shook her head, exasperated, before flashing Kayn a warm smile as they approached, "Morning, Kayn," she said, her blush fading just enough for her to look at him without feeling like her cheeks were on fire.

"Good morning," he replied, a glint of humor in his eyes that told her he'd overheard at least some of the conversation, his head tilted and his expression calm but clearly amused.

Alex looked between them, very curious about any potential inside joke she had missed out on, but after a couple seconds of nothing, she just raised a brow and nodded goodbye, "You two have fun," she said, heading off. Kara watched her go, half relieved and half mortified by her sister's assumptions.

Kayn turned and started walking, with Kara falling into step beside him as they made their way toward into school building.

"Did you enjoy the training this past week?" he asked, his voice light but curious.

Kara's lips curled into a small smile. "It's been... intense. You weren't kidding when you said you'd push me past my limits." She flexed her fingers unconsciously, remembering the weight of energy pulsing through her hands, the sensation of finally breaking through her own barriers. "But it definitely worked, I feel way better."

"Good," he said, nodding with satisfaction. "Your progress was evident even last week. Have you ever thought about taking your training beyond just controlling your powers? Maybe even... applying it in real-world situations?"

Kara blinked, caught off guard as she began to register what Kayn said. She hadn't expected Kayn to propose something like that so soon, "You mean… going on actual missions? Like, for real?" She glanced around, making sure nobody overheard, her voice dropping to a curious whisper. "I thought that was still far off… if it was even an option."

"Not as far off as you might think," he replied, keeping his tone low but still casual. "The only way to push your powers to the limit is actually apply them to real world scenarios, basic training can only go so far."

Kara's surprise quickly morphed into intrigue, and then into determination. She'd come a long way already, and now the idea of using her abilities alongside Kayn in the field filled her with a rush of anticipation. "I am up for it," she said, a quiet strength in her voice. "I'd love to learn more... especially if it means I can help more people."

Kayn's lips curved into a subtle smile. "Good. We'll start tonight then. Meet me at the mall around eight." He paused, looking her over thoughtfully. "I'll take you to my headquarters, we need to take some measurements for your suit—a Special SuperSuit, designed to handle high-energy outputs and provide extra support. It'll be unique to you."

Kara's eyes widened in amazement, her excitement bubbling over. "A suit? Like yours?"

"Yes, similar in function but tailored to your abilities," he confirmed, "It'll help you channel and contain your powers more precisely, especially when things get intense."

Kara nodded eagerly, trying not to let her excitement show too much but failing a little. "That sounds amazing," she said. "I can't wait to see it…"

Kayn shrugged, though there was a hint of genuine warmth in his gaze. "You've earned it," he replied simply.

**********

Later that evening, as dusk settled over National City, Kayn met Kara at the mall as planned. Without much time wasted, he led her down through a few winding streets into the business district until they arrived at AEGIS Headquarters.

As they walked through the Headquarters, Kayn nodded as he spotted people he recognized, whilst Kara was busy being shocked at the incredible scenery. High-tech displayed on the walls, interspersed with holographic maps, stations and racks of specialized gear.

Just a few meters ahead, a tall man in a tailored suit noticed them and approached with a respectful nod.

"Ah, Miss Danvers and boss, welcome," he said, his voice smooth and professional.

"Francis, this is Kara," Kayn introduced. "She'll need a SuperSuit made, fitted to her measurements."

Francis gave a small smile and a nod, "Understood, sir. I'll prepare a prototype right away. Shall I use the specifications you provided?"

Kara's eyes widened as she looked between the two, processing what had just been said. "Wait," she interjected, cheeks already beginning to color. "My measurements? How do you already have those?" She shot Kayn a bewildered look, heat creeping up her neck.

Kayn's expression was unreadable for a moment, but then a playful smirk danced at the corners of his mouth. He took a step closer to her, his voice dropping to a light, teasing tone.

"Let's just say I notice more than you realize, Kara," he murmured, eyes glinting with a mischievous spark.

Kara's blush deepened, and she crossed her arms with an incredulous smile, both flustered and impressed. "So, you… memorized my measurements just by looking at me?"

Kayn chuckled, his gaze holding hers, "It's part of the job," he said smoothly, before wrapping a hand around her waist and pulling her closer, whispering into her ear, "Not just from looking at you, also from hugging this beautiful body."

Kara brightly blushed and buried her head in her hands before pulling away, "Guess I'll have to be careful around you."

Francis cleared his throat, snapping them both back to the present. "Shall I proceed with the prototype as discussed?" he asked, his professional tone unchanging despite the exchange he'd just witnessed.

Kayn nodded. "Yes, make sure it's durable, lightweight, and heat-resistant. It should be able to handle her power fluctuations with minimal impact."

"Of course, sir. Miss Danvers, we'll make adjustments as needed once you try it on," Francis assured her. "The suit should be ready within the next day or two."

Kara's excitement returned in full force. "Thank you, Francis," she said, offering him a bright smile.

With that, Francis excused himself to oversee the project, leaving Kayn and Kara alone in the headquarters. Kara looked around in wonder, taking in the full scale of the facility.

"Welcome to AEGIS HQ," Kayn said, watching her reaction with a small, pleased smile. "This is where I handle most operations, plan missions, and monitor the city's situation. It's a lot, but… it's worth it."

Kara nodded, taking it all in. "I can see that," she replied softly. "It's amazing. And… thanks for letting me be a part of this."

Kayn gave a slight nod, his eyes reflecting a hint of something more as he watched her. "You've more than earned it," he said, his tone warm but steady. "Now let's get you ready for tonight's mission."
