Witching Hour lV

Earth's first defender against all manner of magical threats. So now I walk alone through the nameless reaches of the Underworld, Otherside and Nether-Realm, or whatever you want to call it,

Each fay weirder than the last. Each new challenge liable to end with death and damnation, or perhaps a final descent into eternal madness..but you know what?

I'd be lying my ass of if I didn't say I hated it...no, I absolutely loved it…

———

PRESENT TIME

"Though I may come from far in the past, I still know of you, Doctor Voodoo." The Enchantress spoke to air a moment after he left. A cruel smile split her face as she realized what was going to happen to the voodoo practitioner. "Such desperation in protecting the dead, how sweet." She chuckled.

An array of ancient words surrounded by glowing shapes flowed into the ground. "Passeng'rs of the black w'rld, professeth thy loveth onto me and riseth from the grave to act mine own shall on the living!" The witch yelled in her native, Shakespearean english.

*BOOM*

The layer of the world that separates the living from the dead had been violated heavily without thought. Complete ignorance at necromancy had brought forth a reckoning the Enchantress- no, Succubi could handle. How stupid could one be?

The vile energies of the netherworld proliferated into the sky, staining the firmaments with bilious green tatters of energy. The nether energy is vile in nature, the very antithesis to anything not of its own making.

The very pillars of creation could warp and melt under its unnatural toxic state. An agent of corruption that sinks its claws into anything and everything it can.

"OBEY ME!" The witch yelled to no avail. A mortal with no backing of divine power could hope to control a celestial element, and Hecate had been cut off from her avatar for a time.

The voice of Jericho passionately voiced, "NOOOOO!" Witnessing a great taboo of reality, "YOU DUMB ********************* ********* ******************* ****!! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!?" He demanded an answer, held back by Superman, flanking him was the rest of the circus act.

"Voodoo, calm down." He was told by the Dark Knight as he hurried by his side. He noticed the amount of rage that was directed at the sorceress. Voodoo looked at him exasperated, as if he was confused why Batman wasn't mad like him. "We need you to be calm."

"What is happening?" Arrow's wonder at the sight was shared by all that were in attendance, flashes of bright green illuminated the night sky like the northern lights, but something was off, the energy that lit the sky up gave them an ominous feeling.

"Don't wait around! We need to stop that spell and close the gap!" They were urged on by a speeding Drumm.

If one took a moment to realize, they'd notice the distinct lack of any and all animals, birds, goats, camel, deer, all currently fleeing in unadulterated terror.

Flash was the first to slam into Enchantress's magical circle. Followed by Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman, each vying for entrance and stoppage of the spell. They each pleaded and bargained for the witch to stop but…..what could she do?

Her insufficient power due to a lack of the backup she thought she had, had created this mess, and she didn't have the leftover magical power to stop it. "Frè m, ou konnen m pa rele nou pou anpil. Apre sa, mwen konnen mwen te rele ou pou èd sèlman jou de sa, men mwen bezwen kèk ankò, asire w ke ou ka santi sa k ap pase." Brother Voodoo spoke in his friends language, calling for his patron once more.

(Translation: Brother, you know I dont call on you for much. And I know I called on you for help only days ago, but I need some again, im sure you can sense what's happening.)

His power flared, his staff appeared in his hand, glowing with power.

[Ȓėľė ɱ ƀŷėňťŏ? Ō ƒřè, ŏǔ ǩŏňňėň ǩĭ șā șā ѷľė ďĭ?Ŷŏ ďŵė ƥėŷė ŷŏň ƥřĭ.] Divine words of the loa of the dead took refuge in his head.

(Translation: Calling on me so soon? Oh brother, you know what this means? A price must be paid.)

Jericho's face came upon a unfamiliar sullen look. Dread at what his 'friend' his 'brother' hinted too plagued his mind before they were wiped away.

"Yon kontra te frape ..frè." Voodoo replied with the last words said in spite.

(Translation: A deal has been struck.....brother.)
