Chapter 982: High Tower Contest (16)_1

Batman stood atop the highest mound of dirt, looking down at all the demons, and said solemnly: "The Shadow Demons in the mine saw everything that just happened. If what the Supervisor said is true, then now, the Rotting Heart General might already know about the riot in the mine. The situation is now irreversible."

As his voice fell, many demons began to tremble. These demons stayed in the mine for a long time, becoming slaves to mining, mainly because their races were significantly flawed. They simply couldn't compete with the soldiers. Once conflict erupted, they could only wait for their deaths there.

Within Hell, the races were inherently unequal.

Giant Demons were tall with incredibly strong arms and could use tools. However, their skeletal structure, which didn't provide enough support to their lower limbs, made them slow-moving and stiff, making escape impossible.

shuttle snake demons had excellent jumping ability and could sprint insanely fast for short periods. Yet, their snake tails were unsuitable for long-distance migrations, impeding their ability to move away.

Red Devils, whose physical structure mirrored humans, and had fairly balanced growth. But, in Hell, being too small was a massive disadvantage.

Not to mention the visibly disadvantaged Miniature Demons, Shadow Monsters, and other subservient demons. The gap amongst demons was even wider than that between demons and humans.

The reason these physically handicapped demon species were not eliminated through natural selection was that, like Heaven, Hell was saturated with Magic. Most demons didn't need to divide their day in half to maintain their survival by eating and sleeping as humans did.

Even the frailest Miniature Demon didn't need water and could eat just once every three or four days. Demons didn't need to sleep. Even though they would become mentally exhausted and stressed and needed relaxation and entertainment, they could

persevere much longer than humans under extreme conditions.

Many demons procreated in ways far less complicated than humans. Demons like the Shadow Monsters were naturally born without needing mating, hence maintaining a steady population.

The reproduction of Miniature Demons was even simpler. They reproduced asexually, and upon reaching maturity, could begin reproducing without any need for mating.

In about a month, they would birth 2-3 offspring. From birth to sexual maturity, it took about a year. Hell's harsh environment saw a low survival rate for young ones, but even so, these little demons could be seen in every corner of Hell.

However, such demons had virtually no combat ability. In Hell, most systems were militaristic, most of which were classical military states, meaning that all citizens were soldiers serving the war effort.

Under such conditions, demons incapable of participating in warfare naturally fell at the bottom of the food chain. They became either slaves in the mines, menial laborers in the smelting plants, or they were sent out as cannon fodder during periods of intense warfare.

This group of individuals had always lived this way, passing down their fate generation after generation, with no concept of rebellion. Here, nobody would dare to utter the phrase "A king's nobility rests on the virtue of his subjects" because, in Hell, the kings and generals were indeed many times stronger than ordinary demons.

For instance, Ancient Demons, a significant classification within demons, comprised all humanoid demons and were descendants of God's creation. Even though their size was not too large and their appearance was not fearsome, they could wield magic, controlling the primordial power of Hell.

Human mages obtained this power through trade agreements with the demons. Those demons possessing such powers could easily kill these physically flawed ordinary demons. An even more potent Demon Lord could unleash large-scale Devouring Magic, capable of annihilating an entire city.

Many theories believe that humans could only develop within peace because the disparity between individual to individual, tribe to tribe, never reached an overwhelmingly crushing level. Only then, would human individuals and society continually strive for equality.

Should a group of people or a race possess the power to crush 90% of others without relying on society, then all rules and morals would be meaningless to them, leaving no living space for other individuals.

However, now Batman faced a Hell-level difficulty. These weak races with inherent flaws had just taken their first step towards rebellion. However, what awaited them next were enemies whose equipment, strength, wisdom, and discipline vastly surpassed theirs.

Under such conditions, could the collective truly be greater than the individual? Was solidarity indeed effective? Was forming alliances and rebelling really the right choice?

Batman didn't have the answers yet, but taking this step meant there was no turning back.

He wasn't the type to spend too much time immersed in philosophical musings. He directly leaped off his high perch, whip in hand, and said to everyone, "Now everyone, come to me to have your shackles removed. We need to block all the mine's entrances first to make sure no one can get in…"

At this moment, the Elder of the shuttle snake demons slid over, swaying his tail. He rasped, "If we block the entrance, it would temporarily keep the supervisors out. However, if the entire Central Mine slips from the Rotting Heart General's control, he will surely become enraged and dispatch a powerful army here...
