Penguin Street - Late Night

The aftermath of the intense battle was brutal, the whole restaurant was destroyed and the waiters were piecing together what was left. They were shaking and shivering, what they saw sent shivers down their spines. Would they ever recover from the shock? It wasn't so sure. The ambulance had just arrived to carry their wounded colleague, there was no hope he would survive.

The waiters were packing up some of the wreck when three police cars pulled up at the wreck.Two police men alighted from the first car and walked up to the waiters. The remaining police officers in the other vehicles were combatants, they wore stronger armor in preparation for what could be waiting for them at the restaurant. They alighted and proceeded to check out the whole area. The two officers who weren't in armor JAMES and KENDRICK interrogated the traumatized waiters.

"We recieved a call two hours ago from this place...but the line wasn't being blocked by a strange radio signal. We immediately sensed danger but it appears that we are too late" James said as he bent down a bit to observe glowing red powdery fragments, leftovers of the stone.

The waiters didn't reply. They were dead silent and they continued packing up the messes.

"Sir.....what happened here?" Kendrick asked.

The waiters said nothing. 

James kept on observing the powdery substance for some seconds before he stood back up.

"Did some drug deal battle occur here?" James asked curiously but the waiters were silent.

"Well then....I believe this is a big old waste of time then" James said and turned around to leave.

One of the waiters on seeing that Kemdrick too was leaving stood up and spoke.

"Superhumans!...." A waiter yelled.

James and Kendrick stopped in their tracks and turned around.

"The chefs had signed out for the night....we the waiters were the only ones left, we were packing up in preparation to lock up.....then these highschool kids came in running.....it appeared as if they were playing pranks late at night but....." The waiter was interrupted by another waiter.

"A dark superhuman came with his soldiers.....they were after the kids..... they tried to kill them but....some other powerful people came and killed the bad guy....they took the kids with them." The waiter interrupted.

"Superhumans.....you say?" James asked curiously

"Yes....they had superhuman abilities and they could open portals.....like in a science fiction movie..." The waiter replied 

"And these kids....do you perhaps recognize their uniforms or the school?" Kendrick asked.

"Book worms.... book worms. They were book worms" 

"Okay then thanks for your information.....we will surely look into this matter and hopefully catch these superhumans" James concluded and turned around to leave along with Kendrick.

"Hey....are you sure these guys are okay chief?" Kendrick asked.

"Do they look like they are?" James replied with a question.

Kendrick was silent and didn't give a reply. He scratched his chin and smiled.

"A drug deal gone wrong.....the two parties fought each other with military class weapons and after everything had happened....the culprits threatened the waiters to stay silent and the waiters in fear of death told us some creative piece of shit from some dumb science fiction movie" James replied.

"How do you know this?" Kendrick asked curiously.

"Well explain this" James replied and showed Kendrick the glowing powdery remains of the stone he scooped while be bent the other time.

"....Well....That looks like some next level drug shit to me chief." Kendrick said.

"Now explain how drug pushers rich and powerful enough to have this won't be able to afford military class weapons or powerful radio blockers." James muttered.

"We take this proof to the forensics to work on and once we trace it's origins, we will catch those mother duckers...." James concluded.

"Mother duckers....hahahaha....that was funny"

Penguin City Street - Alice's House - Morning

"Is she going to wake up?"

"Maybe she's in some other realm or something" 

"Shut up Moses"

"My daughter" Alice wept as she caressed Ruby's face with her soft and tender hands. She wiped her tears but her voice was still shaky

Moses and Sabrina were sitting next to Ruby's bed and they consoled Alice.

"Her mother was beautiful just like her.....but she didn't have the beauty in her heart like Ruby did. She was forced to keep Ruby's pregnancy and that influenced her anger. She waas wicked and always abused her physically by beating her every single time for the slightest slip off.....slip offs you should overlook... something had to be done before she killed the child so I came in." Tears dropped from Alice's eyes as she spoke.

"That's enough..... don't tell that story.....makes me sad" Ruby said in a pale tone as she woke up from her all night slumber.

"Ruby!" Her friends yelled as they embraced her happily seeing that she was awake 

Alice shoved Moses and Sabrina away and embraced Ruby herself 

"Don't ever scare me again Ruby....ever" Alice yelled.

"Woah don't crush my bones!" Ruby shouted.

"They told me what happened!" Alice said as she stood up from the chair.

Ruby arose in fear 😨. Did Moses and Sabrina reallu tell Alice what happened?

"Did they?" Ruby asked. From behind, Moses and Sabrina winked and smiled.

"They told me how you fell from the school stairs and passed out. They said the nurses were on vacation" Alice stated.

"Oh....oh...that's right I fell.....the nurses were on vacation so they arrived late.....that's why we came late.....right!" Ruby interrupted.

"Yeah but I thought they said....." Alice was about to complete her statement when she was interrupted by Ruby.

"Yeah thank you..... thank you...love you bye" she said as she pushed Alice out of her room and locked the doors. She sighed in exhaustion and stared at Moses and Sabrina. They both stared at each other in silence for some seconds before Ruby broke the silence.

"So which one of you said that the nurses went on vacation?" Ruby asked in curiosity. 

Sabrina slowly raised her hands to signify that she was the one.

"Do nurses ever go on vacation?" Ruby asked.

Moses laughed out.....followed by Sabrina and then Ruby. They laughed so hard that they fell to the ground.

They finally stopped laughing after some seconds.

"Last night felt different....the power.....it was immense and for that period of time, I didn't know what I was doing, all I knew was that I wanted to save you guys. My hair grew.....it grew and I took down the bad guy. All I've ever wished for was to be meaningful to people, to save people who are weak like I once was.....so what do you think....should I join them....should I join the White Heralds?" Ruby asked.

"You'll need to train in Zero G to control your powers...fly to space.....explore the ocean, earn cash....and funniest thing.....we get to go with you to experience the fun....I say you join them" Moses replied 

"You're gonna be a superhero Ruby....you're gonna be an Herald" Sabrina muttered.

"I'm gonna be a superhero..."
