Chapter Two_Report To Base

She lounged prettily in her bathtub, flicking soapsuds here and there, then picked up her buzzing phone that rested on the decorative tiles.

"A1 here," she croaked.

"Well done, girl. What do you say we do for you this time, eh?" A happy voice said.

"Just my due, Al."

"Com'on. Let's throw a party for you. I've been telling the others to live up to your standards. They're too slow." Al whined.

"Leave the poor dears. They all do a good job.

Anyway, what have you got for me, Al?" She asked, with her eyebrows raised.

"Well, you have been ordered to report to base immediately. Chief wants to see you." Al informed her.

"Yeah, I'll do that." She agreed, then sighed.

"Before I go girl, one more thing; remember to stay down." Al warned, a small warmth creeping into his voice.

"Hey, I know how to do my job. You go and have some fun." She laughed, waving him away, even though he couldn't see her.

"Ta ta!" He called happily.

"You too."She responded.

The line went dead.

She dropped her phone, then submerged herself further into the bathtub, letting the rose water cover her head.
