Chapter 123 - Thanatos Familia 01.

As soon as Lucius uttered those words, silence took over the place at that moment. It seemed like all the activities of the black market had come to a halt. At this moment, only the breathing of Lucius and Ryuu with their assassins, positioned above the buildings, was heard.

"Well, I thought you would act, but it seems you won't..." Lucius spoke, cracking a mocking smile. And then, he vanished from the spot next to Ryuu and appeared in front of four people dressed as assassins while they covered their bodies with dark clothes.

Before they could act, still surprised by Lucius, the mage made a hand motion, releasing bolts that shot directly at all of them. Caught off guard, the majority were hit, while one managed to dodge having agility of level 4. All flew onto the buildings, exploding in bolts. Even the people at the market were surprised by the explosions happening above them in the direction of that alley as bolts illuminated the darkness of the night.

Ryuu quickly joined the fight, jumping onto the buildings, "Take care of this one, I'll go after the others that were hit." Lucius murmured with his distorted voice, and he vanished again while Ryuu ran towards the man who prepared to face her.

The electrocuted assassins struggled to get up at that moment, wondering what had happened. "How did he appear out of nowhere? How can he do that?" they wondered.

"You should have been paying more attention to me," Lucius spoke, hovering above them. And, before they could react, he released another bolt on top of the whole group, causing a new explosion on those buildings. Now, drawing the attention of the entire place, while an explosion was heard throughout the district.

When the dust settled, only 1 assassin managed to stand, while the other two lay dead on the ground.

Looking at the last one, Lucius amusingly asked. "Are you really assassins? I expected more. This is being too easy. I thought the Thanatos Familia would send at least level 4 assassins, but this is a level 2 at most. What a disappointment," Lucius mocked, behind his mask, as the last member was growling at him.

"Don't underestimate me, you will pay for this!" the man challenged. However, at the first step he took towards Lucius, a trap that Lucius had secretly placed was activated on him, electrocuting him. The next moment, another sound of bolts was heard, as the man felt pain in his body and fell motionless to the ground.

"Really disappointing," Lucius murmured, placing his feet on the ground again. He walked up to the man, while Ryuu was fighting another level 4 adventurer. She was a good assassin, but a frontal combat had its shortcomings against adventurers of the same level. Lucius stood there waiting while they exchanged blows, causing explosive sounds above the rooftops.

"This can't last long..." Lucius commented, seeing that more people were approaching by the sound of the previous explosions, he knew he had to finish that fight quickly. Then, before the assassin fighting with Ryuu could react, a bolt went towards his attacker, who was caught off guard.

Being electrocuted the next moment with Lucius's most powerful bolt, he became slow and Ryuu finished him off with her wooden staff.

"Don't look at me like that, we have to get out of here. Take him, we'll ask them some questions in another location." He said while Ryuu picked up that adventurer, Lucius took the one that fell with his trap.

They were ready to leave the place, but suddenly three adventurers climbed up: a dwarf and an elf and a human, "Who are you?! What do you think you are doing in this place, don't you know that this is the underworld of Orario and you are subject to being chased if you cause trouble?" The dwarf growled.

"We are already being chased, we are just defending ourselves, dwarf." Lucius spoke calmly.

He turned to leave, "Wait, chased or not. Do you think you can leave here after the chaos you caused?" The dwarf insisted and Lucius just sighed, he looked at the dwarf and raised his hand before a bolt shot straight from it hitting the dwarf's chest, making him fall straight into the street, while his companions were stunned and went into combat mode.

Lucius calmly looked at them and asked seriously:

"Do you really want to fight? I'm taking care of my business here, but I won't spare any effort in facing you as well. I might even destroy the market with this. Do you want to continue?" Lucius mocked, not wasting any time in causing chaos.

The elf and the human snarled at Lucius, but did nothing this time, the elf even asked at the end, "Who are you?"

Lucius just picked up the body on the ground, electrocuted, and looked at it before answering, "Have you heard of me? I am Lord Sith." He said before leaping away with the other adventurer, leaving them astonished.

Lucius and Rio took the fallen men to an isolated place that Lucius also knew. It was a wasteland near the slums; he found it while being a beggar for a week in the city.

There, he tied them to a pole and waited for them to wake up, after pouring water on the two assassins after removing their masks, one being a demon-human and the other human. As soon as they woke up, they saw they were tied up in front of those they had been ordered to kill.

"So we were captured..." One of the assassins murmured.

"It seems so. You failed. Failed miserably. Now, you are my prisoners, and I don't mind killing you because I have no pity for assassins. I want information about your family and its base, and who knows, you might live, even after it's destroyed." Lucius commented calmly. The tied-up men surely knew this guy wouldn't let them go, not with those words even distorted behind the mask, clearly false.

"Go to...Hm!" Before he could curse at Lucius, he grabbed Ryuu's staff and hit the demon-human on the head.

Ryuu glared at Lucius, for he hadn't even asked for the staff. "Sorry, it's a good piece for torture, I'll return it shortly..." Lucius comments shrugging, and the dazed man complains of a headache from the blow.

"Do you think you'll get anything from us?" The other human said, and he pressed his tongue to the point of bursting in his mouth.

He looked up at Lucius, smiling, knowing he couldn't pass any information without his tongue, and the bleeding would make him die. Lucius just looked at him as if he were an idiot.

"Do you have the same determination as your friend, demon-human?" Lucius asked while looking at the only man still with a headache.

"Go to hell." He spat on the ground with that. "Wrong answer!" Lucius spoke and gave another hit on his head.

He turned his attention to the man who was dying, approaching and covering his mouth with a hand while still bleeding, he began to heal the man's tongue with his magic.

"Hahaha. Looks like you're not going to die..." Lucius mocked, and the man was a bit dazed.

"You healed me?" He managed to speak again.

"Don't worry, we're going to have a good night, I'll cut your tongue out the rest of the night and heal you every time I do that, can you endure that?" Lucius said, and his tone seemed evil even with the distortion in the voice.

Both the human and the demon-human seemed scared now with this, they could resist torture, but what he planned wasn't to bring them close to death and heal them before causing their death again? Even they had to acknowledge that this was dreadful, and they didn't want to go through it.

"I thought better and will let you die, no more torture if you pass me the location of your base." Lucius commented with a smile behind the mask.

The place began to fill with screams soon after Lucius started, 20 minutes later, Lucius had all the information he needed from the Thanatos Familia. Lucius and Ryuu finally left the place, ending the lives of the assassins and going to the place where the Thanatos Familia base would be, where would be their first direct confrontation against the remnants of Evilus.

Lucius made them fly to get there faster, and they went to a place in the slum itself, there was an entrance to the sewers there was the base of the Thanatos family.

"Are you ready for action? It's very likely we'll encounter adventurers of level 4 and 5 there, so be prepared." Lucius announced as he took his daggers to fight like an assassin.

Ryuu just nodded, seeing a chance to eliminate another family from Evilus. This would be a busy night for both and wouldn't end well for the family members hiding within the sewers.
