Chapter 25

“It’s nice for a single man, but I don’t think Jill likes it very much.” He laughed a little. “I’m sure she believes my bed is filled with the ghosts of other women.”

“Is it?”

“No.”

“Other men?”

He smiled. “No.”

I didn’t know whether to believe that or not. If Paul truly hadn’t been bedding other men or women at his apartment, did that mean he’d been leading a life of celibacy, or just bedding them somewhere else?

“Are you hungry?” he asked, rising to his feet.

“I could eat,” I said with a shrug.

I watched him slide into his sweatpants and noticed he hadn’t put on any underwear. Maybe I’d be able to get a second act from him before the evening ended.

“What do you want?” he asked.

“What do you have?”

“Nothing I feel like cooking. How about I just order a pizza?”

“Sounds good to me.”
