Chapter One.

"School uniforms create a sense of unity and reduce destructions in the classroom."

"School uniforms are not the most effective way to improve learning in an environment. A study conducted by the University of Nevada found that as school uniform reduces disciplinary issues, there is no definitive evidence that they have a positive effect on Academic performance."

An hour had passed since the debate started so with that ,the National Debate Tournament came to a conclusion.Team B which was the Opposition side seemed to have the upper hand in the debate. The judge announced Team B as the winners. Silver Crest High students jumped with joy as their Debate Club Leader went to receive their trophy.

Both the audience and the contestants walked out of the Debate Hall with mixed reactions. The National Debate Tournament was being held in Phoenix,Arizona for the first time.Rosalinda walked out all jumpy with excitement. She was proud of herself for contributing to her school's victory.

"Rosie,"a gentle male voice called out.

Rosalinda turned around only to find the Debate Club Leader Liam Jason smiling at her. This was one of the rare occasions that made Liam happy. He walked towards her and congratulated her.

Liam was a junior at Silver Crest High while Rosalinda was only a sophomore. He was the reason why she joined debate club. Liam was a calm handsome guy and was quite popular despite his low key behavior. Unlike others who joined debate club because of their undying love for debate,Rosalinda joined debate club to pursue her love interest who was Liam,a boy she liked since middle school.

"Thank you LJ,"Rosalinda grinned after her long time crush complimented her for the first time. He patted her head gently and left not knowing how to react to the nickname she had just called him.

"You definitely like him but he doesn't seem to like that nickname," a silver haired guy approached her.

The boy was of the same height as Liam and he wore a Black blazer coat with a badge engraved with the words Lavish Academy ,Tempe in Italics. The guy had contact lenses on which added beauty to his eyes and his cute slim face.

"Mind your own business."

"I'm minding my own business," he smiled.

"What's your deal?"

"Nothing. I like short girls but you're a short and cute one."

Rosalinda looked away and tried to hide her smile.

"I'm Ambrose,"he said after a moment of silence.

"Rosie."

"Rosie? Why do I think that's the shorter version of your name?"he leaned in and sniffed,"Why do I smell a Rosalinda here?"

Ambrose laughed sarcastically. Rosalinda didn't like being called her full name because she felt it sounded like an old name.

"You're one of those spoiled bad boys. I mean what kind of school allows its students to dye their hair like that?"

"My School,"he answered proudly.

"You mean the only school in Arizona State whose students wear uniforms?"

"Just because you won the debate against school uniforms doesn't mean uniforms are dumb. I mean I look hot in uniform, don't I?"

"Hate to admit it. You look like one of those hot vampires in movies and K-pop idols."

Ambrose was impressed by her compliments. Before they could talk more, one of the Silver Crest debate leaders Hannah approached them. She wanted someone to accompany her to buy a snack so she took Rosalinda along.

As they walked towards the snack bar Hannah was curious to know about Ambrose and Rosalinda's relationship but she said they had only met. Since there wasn't much to talk about, they quickly changed the subject and talked about how the debate went smoothly.

In the evening Rosalinda and her schoolmates occupied one table and ordered their food. Liam was a vegetarian and so Rosalinda had to hide her love for meat and order the same as Liam. She wanted to do everything he liked. Every one had noticed Rosalinda's extra attention towards Liam. Liam was used to girls sucking up to him so to him, Rosalinda was another one of them doing the same.

Their orders were served and they digged in and talked about how they did not want to return to Tempe the following day. Some minutes later, Ambrose and his schoolmates entered the dining area and occupied a table behind Rosalinda and her schoolmates'. Ambrose and his schoolmates were now in civilian.

Ambrose sat in a position that when he looked up he would see Rosalinda's face. As the others ordered he was busy staring at her,but she ignored him. When the others had decided what to eat, one of them slapped Ambrose's hand bringing him back to reality.

As Rosalinda's schoolmates finished their meals they left one by one to pack their things for the following day's journey. Rosalinda tried to eat at the same pace as Liam. Liam noticed this and left his unfinished food there. Rosalinda got up too and ran after him. Ambrose on the hand smiled as he watched the short girl trying to catch up with Liam. This was the funny thing about short girls,he thought. His friends saw him smiling and were inquisitive about it. He only defended himself and said he had remembered something funny. But what could be so funny to make him smile like a fool.

After packing, Hannah slept soundly but Rosalinda could not find any sleep after packing. She hadn't slept the night before the debate because she was nervous but why would it happen on a calm night like that and furthermore she had nothing serious to talk about. She left the room and went to experience the Phoenix Night Life at the Hotel Rooftop.

The Rooftop was wide, she could see a guy standing from a distance and the guy seemed to be smoking. When she moved closer she felt that he looked familiar. She tiptoed towards him but the guy's hearing ability was better than she thought.

"Are you planning to kidnap me?"Ambrose turned around making her scream in shock."I didn't mean to scare you,"he gave an apologetic smile.

She looked at the cigarette in his hand and remained silent.

"You wanna try it?"he asked referring to the cigarette.

"No,thanks. What are you doing here?"

"I'm clearly smoking and you?"

"I couldn't sleep so..."

"Oh insomnia. I just don't understand how someone can be unable to sleep when they're supposed to."

"I've never understood how someone can sleep and wake up on on the exact time just like how a phone switches on and off."

"Let's not argue anymore let's deal with your insomnia first."

"Luckily,you have a conscience."

He threw his cigarette away and they sat somewhere to talk but before they could talk, his phone rang revealing the name MOM across the screen.

"I'll be a sec."

He got up and walked a distance away from her and answered his phone. His mother was checking up on him but they ended up talking for long.

"I knew he couldn't be trusted. He told me he would be a sec but he ended up talking for an hour,"Rosalinda sighed with disappointment.

When Ambrose ended his call, Rosalinda was already leaning somewhere sleeping soundly. He smiled and shook his head and smiled. He carried her back to the hotel but he didn't know which of the rooms was hers. He looked from side to side at the Hallway and carried her in to his room. When he entered the room, his roommate wasn't asleep yet so he had to explain how he had met her and how she ended up sleeping and she had to sleep there because he didn't know her room number. The hotel reception was never allowed to share someone's information so he wouldn't go there to inquire about her room number. Ambrose shared the bed with his Roommate though he wasn't used to sharing a bed with anyone. When Rosalinda woke in the morning, she woke up and saw Ambrose's roommate who had slept shirtless. She screamed at the top of her voice. Ambrose woke up and dragged her out and locked the door. He basically hated hearing humans ' voices in the morning. Rosalinda walked back thinking about a million things Ambrose could have done to her and how she would explain to Hannah where she had slept.
