"I've made… 14 people disappear so far. What if… what if they had children, Fumio?" Kotone continues to ask.
"For almost half my life, I've hated the one who killed my parents but now… I've become just like him." She concludes.
Fumio takes a deep breath as he too reflects on his actions, and the guilt he has been suppressing come rushing back much stronger than ever.
It takes him a minute to calm down and "Kotone…" get his words back.
"Did you ever think about the number of children that would have been orphaned had you let these kinds of people get away?" He asks.
"Does it really make a difference?" Kotone shakes her head.
"I know we're not saints, but since this all started, I can't help but feel like that we're making a difference. But lately, I've realized… are we? We make them disappear; another one replaces them in their operations. It'll never end." She argues.
"Well. How many children have they orphaned? Hm?" Fumio asks.
