The next day. 

Meng Yu sat up with a startle.

"3rd brother and Royal father are-?!"

Mei'er nodded. 

Meng Yu clenched his Guqin. 'The fact that the one to deliver the new is Mei'er, is this how you brag 2nd brother!'

"T-this afternoon, all the ministers got together to mourn the death of the emperor and to choose a emperor."

Mei'er had never seen Meng Yu look so distraught and was taken by surprise. 

"...The country can't go a day without a emperor, so then...is the 2nd brother  managing the court now?"

"Yes....He will ascend on a auspicious day." 

'2nd brother is too greedy and cautious, once he become emperor...he will dispose of me....Or even worse, he'll do so right now.'

Another maid came by the door, bowed, and then spoke.

"Your highness, the general is here."

"...Okay, take him to my room."

After the maid left, Meng Yu turned to Mei'er. 

"I have to meet with the general now, after all he is my father-in-law. You can leave now."

Mei'er bowed and also left. 

'Hopefully, 2nd brother won't cause any chaos. The general might be able to deter him, but on the off chance he can't....that will be my death.'

"General, please. Meng Yu guided the general.

"He really thinks I'm afraid?"

Meng Chang smiles and eats fruits with laughter. On his right side was a beautiful maid in his arms. 

Mei'er simply kept quiet. 

"Even with the general by his side, I'm the emperor! What does he think he can do with someone thats under me, hahaha!! 7th Brother, you are even dumber than I thought!"

"aiyah, the 7th prince is blind and a waste, of course he can't compare to you, the emperor!" The maid giggled.

He kissed the maid on the cheek.

Tapping his finger he mutter, "What should I do with that waste..."

"Should I castrate and kill him? Or should I chop off all his limbs and make sure he never see's the light of day? Both seem really fun!"

Mei'ers face turn ghostly and she starts sweating. She gathered her courage.

"Your majesty, what about Lady Ling? Don't you want to win her heart and body?"

"Hmmm... looks like you have something you want to say? If it's stupid, you'll have to pay the price for interfering with my thoughts!"

She swallowed saliva and made sure to not say a single wrong word. 

"Lady Ling from what I see, truly loves the waste Meng Yu! That's why if he dies, Lady Ling might never love anyone else!"

She became more confident as she spoke as if she was also convincing herself. 

"If the coward Meng Yu were to file for a divorce and also live in confinement, then Lady Ling will no longer care about him."

"Ssss~ I understand why they have to get a divorce, but why can't I just kill him afterwords?"

Meng Chang kissed the maid in his arms and spoke to someone else in the room. 

"Kill her after she warns Meng Yu."

The maid kept silent and embraced the Meng Chang.

Mei'er runs. She couldn't just leave her loved one to die in such heinous ways.

"Y-your highness!" 

Mei'er groveled in front of Meng Yu taking him by surprise.

"Whats the matter Mei'er!?"

"Please leave! The capital isn't safe, the 2nd prince-"

A arrow pierced through her heart and blood sprayed in his face. 

Disregarding it, he held her body quickly. 

"R-Run, the 2nd prince h-h-e wants Lady L-Ling..."

She had used her remaining will and determination to say those words. 

As her vision gradually fades, her body goes limp. 

"....Mei'er...." He closed her eyes with his palms and set her down on his bed. 

He had never hated Mei'er. Even though she was a spy, he knew that it wasn't by choice. 

Although they weren't close, they were still together for almost 4 years everyday.

It would be hard to not feel anything with her death.
