C68- Getting Out of the Nest (3)

After meeting with everyone and explaining the plan, the humans in the nest started preparations for their great escape and also the real death of the Horde Queen.

The first thing to do was preparing a map of the nest for the escapees. Even though Noah roughly remembered where they came from, he still wanted to make a more detailed map in case they needed it.

So Noah and Acherie went outside the human rooms while being hidden by Acherie's magic. Becasue not much time had passed since Acherie achieved Rule Break, her body couldn't handle using her unique magic for extended periods of time. Because of that, Acherie chose to take a pill made by Amy. She had to also slow down and take breaks here and there, but since drawing a magical map was going to take time and effort anyways, Noah needed breaks as well.

While Noah and Acherie were working on the detailed map of the nest, Amy decided to look after the patients in the nest. Since the two doctors inside the nest both lacked any magical talent and only education, they couldn't cure most patients and could only keep them stable at best. Since Amy could make cures for most of the patients here with the help and knowledge of the professional doctors in the nest, she decided to help them heal the patients in exchange for knowledge.

Kharon was busy helping the spearmen tasked with protecting the people train. He even chose some men strong enough to fight and started training them as well. Since he used a sword and not a spear, they had to request swords from the craftsmen. Making the swords took a while, but thankfully the craftsmen in the nest were great at their job and helped each other instead of a competitive rivalry.

"We are realy lucky, aren't we? Usually when people are stranded in a situation like this, you would expect a twisted system of oppression to occur, wouldn't you?", asked Corvin.

"Huh? What are you talking about?", asked Clair back.

"You know... When in a situation like this, usually there is some sort of dude that beats a couple of guys up and then declares himself the king. That guy chooses a small group to be his lackeys and help him rule the people there with force. Then he demands women and food from the peop-"

Clair slapped for forehead and stopped Corvin from speaking.

"Alright, alright! I get what you are trying to explain. You don't have to make up a whole story with details. That's Noah's job, you know!"

"...So, yeah. We are lucky there wasn't anything like that here..."

"Well, of course not. This is the real world. Not some weird story you made up with it's only purpose being everything going wrong. There are people from two different ethnic background here. Even if there was something like you told, there would be two of them, one Avib and one Ale-An. And they would always fight over people. To win them over, they would offer better terms and after a while, the two groups or whatever would fade away."

"I see..."

"And, the chance of something like that happening is really low anyways. It's not like every man in the streets is a rapist and every woman is a coquette ready to pull strings. Purely evil people like that are rare in reality. Everyone has some kindness in their heart. The only difference is where they direct that kindness. Some might be kind to everyone, some might be kind only to themselves. And some might choose to bury that kindness deep inside to achieve their dreams. For example, an emperor might have to act ruthless in order to stop their empire from falling. Of course, usually people like them constantly suffer from stress and nightmares."

"..."

Corvin stared at Clair in amazement.

"W-What?"

"Nothing... I just thought you looked smart for a bit there- Ouch!"

Hearing his answer, Clair stepped on Corvin's foot.

"Why?"

"Hmph! You always thought I was a bit dumb, didn't you?"

"What?! No way!"

"But you just admitted it!"

"What? No! I was just surprised how much you knew about that topic!"

"Of course I know about it. Every noble kid learns about this early in their lives. It is an essential part of being a ruler and a leader, you know?"

"I thought your brain only worked for weird machines- Ouch!"

Clair stepped on his other foot.

"Stop talking nonsense and let's start working on your disastrous explosion plan."

"Right, right... We need explosives, can you make them?"

"Depends on what materials I can find."

"What can we use?"

"The wax from the honeycomb rooms is definitely going to be useful... We definitely need wood or something similar... The fur of the butchered animals could be used... Oh! Their fat can be used as well but I doubt any of those are left..."

"Okay. Anything else?"

"We need some special equipments to be made and also Amy's help."

"Amy? Why?"

"Because her magic will also help. Well, our powers complete each other perfectly."

"Then I will ask her if she has free time to help us. What about the equipment?"

Clair brought a bunch of paper and pen. After explaining what she needed, her and Corvin designed a bunch of equipment, like a couple of cauldrons and a basic distillation setup.

They handed the papers to the craftsmen, and the craftsmen said they would be ready in about a day or so.

The next day, Acherie and Noah came back to stock up on food and pills to finalize the map. Corvin and Clair asked to accompany them to harvest wax, but because using her magic on four people for that long was impossible for the current Acherie, they decided to form a proper armed group to harvest wax.

It took half a day to prepare for it, but Clair and Corvin successfully harvested all the wax inside a small honeycomb room. Of course, the monsters resting inside the room were enraged, but they were swiftly defeated by Corvin, Kharon and the men he trained in half a week.

While turning back from the harvest with the loot from the monsters and a lot of wax, Clair had a question.

"Hey, Corvin."

"? What happened, Clair?"

"That was easy, wasn't it?"

"Yeah?"

"Can't everyone just escape this place like that?"

"I don't think so."

"Why?"

"Because, all of us just then was armed except you. Even then, we have some injured. And this is almost everyone who can fight in the nest. It would be almost impossible to escape the normal way while trying to protect more than two hundred people with a group that can just barely protect itself. Also, if we leave the Queen here, we don't know how long it will take until someone kills it. It may very well stay here for another decade and cause problems to people again."

"I see..."

"Well, don't worry about it. Noah wouldn't let anything harm you, and as his guard I won't let anything harm him."
