Crow's Lost Memories

Corvin is a boy who grew up with dreams of changing the world. Humanity is in the brink of civilization changing revolutions. As the waves of turmoil create change, he gets the chance and connections to lead the change of his homeland along with his friends. Will he be able to change the world in the way he wants during the industrial revolution of his planet, or will he fail as he uncovers the truth about reality and his real identity? A/N: This is my first work, and just a simple hobby of mine but I do take it seriously. I want to keep some parts of it different from the rest like how the magic works, and I know it may turn out more complicated than classic game-esque magic, I still like that kind of worldbuilding. I appreciate constructive criticism. Currently 1 chapter per week because I am busy with uni exams. Will be back to 2 per 3 days after everything is over, which will take about three months.

C62- The Moth and the Warriors (3)

As Corvin got ready to combat, a big and strong hand held his shoulder. From behind him, the giant man Kharon talked with his deep voice.

"Children should step back and let the adults protect them, kid."

Corvin turned back to see the intimidatingly big man with a gentle smile.

'When did he come there? I didn't see that at all...'

"O-Okay... Please kill it..."

"You don't have to say it."

Said the man and took a step towards the moth. While he was raising his sword, a small figure appeared in front of him and held his hand. The small figure talked with her voice that didn't fit her actual age.

"Step back, Kharon. I will beat that thing. The weak should stay back."

"Hah?! You are the one who is weak! Move aside, Acherie."

The man pulled the small woman backwards and stepped in front of her. The woman didn't resist and stood silently as she was pulled back. Corvin watched as the woman was covered with a slight shadow and disappear from where she once were.

"Huh?!"

Clank! Clank!

The woman suddenly appeared right next to the moth and started attacking it's legs with her pitch black double daggers.

'Was that her unique magic?'

"Tch... That stubborn girl... Ever since back then, she never let me protect her once..." muttered Kharon silently. Only Corvin could hear him faintly because of his proximity, and since he trained himself to hear everything around him, he did hear it properly.

'Huh? Is this a lover's quarrel?'

Because Corvin developed a liking to being a matchmaker to his friends back in the Institute after his success with Noah and Clair, he was asked for love advice at the Institute by some of his friends. And he was slowly becoming more perceptive of others' affection to others.

While Corvin was getting distracted by something at the wrong time, the moth swung a wing towards Acherie. A strong wind blew towards her, who was attacking the moth's legs without much result, and she flew towards the wall.

Seeing this, Kharon inhaled deeply. His body started to shine with a white aura that formed a mane like that of a lion around his neck. Kharon exhaled and the light spread towards his sword and shield.

As Acherie got covered by black fog again and disappeared while giving Kharon a somewhat lonely stare, Kharon leaped towards the moth and swung his sword towards it's leg. The light around the sword changed it's shape, and looked like a set of claws.

Swish~ Crack!

The single sword slash cut the leg in three different places somehow, and the leg was completely severed. While Kharon was attacking the moth, Acherie appeared near Corvin inside a black fog that suddenly appeared. She clenched her daggers with an expression of disappointment and muttered.

"He didn't even look at me when I was in danger... Even though I waited for him to help me..."

'Yup... They are two stubborn idiots mutually in love...'

After confirming his theory on why the two were fighting while coming all the way over here, he turned back to Kharon. He was attacking the legs of the moth at one side of it's body to make it harder for the monster to keep it's balance when it tried to attack, but there was something he missed. The two legs he cut off before were regenerating at a rate even faster than when the monster was a caterpillar.

The first leg that was cut off had already regenerated and was headed straight towards him. Seeing this, Corvin tried to shout but before he could, he felt a wind pass by and a faint trail of black fog next to him.

Acherie appeared right behind Kharon and stopped the leg that was headed towards Kharon's chest.

Clank!

After cutting the leg in front of him, Kharon turned back and shouted at Acherie while cutting the leg she blocked.

"See! You can't even cut that thing! You are weak, that's why I always tell you to stop!"

"But I saved you once again! It has been like this since when we were kids! I am always saving you, so that's why you should stop and not me!"

They both shouted at each other while attacking the legs of the moth together.

Swish~ Clank! Crash!

"You will get hurt since you are weak! That's why you should stop! I can look after myself!"

"You always said you could look after yourself, but I always find myself saving you!"

Kharon clenched his sword tightly in anger and swung it towards the moth randomly.

"You! You always say that! But you always put yourself at risk to save me!"

Acherie left a trail of black fog behind her as she moved at speeds Corvin could barely see while attacking the moth, which was trying to escape from being slaughtered in vain.

This back and forth between the two went on for a while. The moth was already dead, and it's corpse was being turned into minced meat, but the two who were arguing didn't realize it yet.

'Hehehe... Because they can beat the moth to get rid of their stress, they are becoming more honest... This may have been just the right thing they needed to get together...'

While Corvin was thinking about other people's private lives, which normally shouldn't be his concern, Kharon and Acherie were slowly getting tired from shouting at the other while beating up the dead moth.

"If you weren't so weak then I wouldn't need to put myself in danger to protect you!"

"I'VE HAD ENOUGH!"

Kharon roared like a beast. He dropped his sword and walked towards Acherie. When he came in front of her, he held her shoulders and shook her slightly while shouting.

"I don't want you to be in danger! Can't you understand!"

"I am not weak!"

"I know! But that's not what I'm talking about!"

"Huh?"

Acherie made a tiny surprised sound at the unexpected retort.

"Back then, you always helped me! I want to be the one helping now!"

"-!"

"I can't bear to see you fight monsters and humans! I don't care about your powers or whatever! How can I stand by when you put yourself in danger!"

"--!"

Suddenly, Kharon hugged Acherie. Acherie's face became blank in shock at the surprise.

"How can I not shiver from worry when the one I love is in danger?!"

"Wha-!"

Acherie's face got covered with a blush and her eyes were swirling. Kharon, whose head was buried in Acherie's neck currently, suddenly raised his head in surprise.

"Ah- That's not-!"

He realized what he did just now and was trying to find a way to get away from Acherie in embarrasment. But while trying to get away from her, she wrapped her arms around his neck while smiling in ecstasy with her red face.

Seeing the atmosphere around the two, Corvin decided to leave the two alone with a satisfied smile on his face.

"Hmm~ So even adults can create an atmosphere like that, huh?"
