Crow's Lost Memories

Corvin is a boy who grew up with dreams of changing the world. Humanity is in the brink of civilization changing revolutions. As the waves of turmoil create change, he gets the chance and connections to lead the change of his homeland along with his friends. Will he be able to change the world in the way he wants during the industrial revolution of his planet, or will he fail as he uncovers the truth about reality and his real identity? A/N: This is my first work, and just a simple hobby of mine but I do take it seriously. I want to keep some parts of it different from the rest like how the magic works, and I know it may turn out more complicated than classic game-esque magic, I still like that kind of worldbuilding. I appreciate constructive criticism. Currently 1 chapter per week because I am busy with uni exams. Will be back to 2 per 3 days after everything is over, which will take about three months.

C42- The Werga Mountains (2)

Knock Knock Knock!

"Noah! Wake up, it's time to leave!"

Corvin came to Noah's dorm and knocked on the door. No one answered so Corvin entered the dorm and walked towards the bedroom.

'This guy is late again...'

He entered the bedroom.

"Noah, wake u- Huh?"

Inside the bedroom, where there should be nothing was a medium sized square pyramid tent with a basic dark green colour.

"What, a tent? What is this guy doing?", he said as he entered the tent.

"...HUH!?"

Inside the tent was nothing but a boy sleeping on the ground.

"Hey, Noah! Wake up!"

"Hmhmh.... Hm? Corvin?"

"Yes, it's me. We will be leaving in the next hour. Wake up and get ready. And, why did you set the tent up in your dorm?"

"Huam~, Why not? I wanted to get used to it before we go to the mountains."

"Sigh~, Well anyways, you need to get up now. Everyone is finishing their preparations. We won't wait for you for much longer, okay?"

"Are we leaving today?"

"Yes."

"Five more minutes please..."

"Do you want to be kicked?"

"Hm?"

*****

Five minutes later, Noah and Corvin got out of his dorm. Noah was holding his stomach in pain. Clair and Amy were waiting for them outside.

"I told you I would kick you didn't I?"

"I was already prepared!"

"How could I know that?"

"Just look at my room!"

"There was a tent in the middle of the room and my attention was drawn towards it, okay? It's your fault at the end of the day."

"It's just a tent, what's so interesting about it?"

"The fact that it is right in the middle of your room."

As the two were arguing, Amy and Clair looked at eachother.

"Were they always like this?"

"Yes, whenever they have free time, they are arguing..."

Clair turned towards the two and said.

"Hey, you two! Stop fooling around and come here already! We need to leave!."

After carrying Noah's stuff to the carriage as well, the four began on their journey towards the south of the Empire.

*****

"I feel less guilty this time.", said Corvin.

"Guilty?"

"Yeah, since we are leaving the school during spring break and not in the middle of the month."

"Oh, right. I also feel the same way, now that you mention it!", said Noah.

"Well, I am also happy to visit home for a bit. It's been a while since I have seen my sister.", said Corvin.

"Oh...right... I-I also miss Bella a little bit."

"Did you forget about your sister, Noah?"

"Huh? N-No, o-of course not..."

"Corvin had a sister?", asked Amy.

"Ah... I forgot to tell you, didn't I."

"You two are both hopeless brothers...", said Clair.

"How old is she? What's her name?"

"Luna is just about one years old."

"! Can I see her!", asked Amy with excitement.

"Sure, we can. We were planning on stopping at Demice anyways, right Noah?"

"Yeah, I need to see my mom and Bella."

"Right... Then Clair and Noah are going to the Vyolor mansion, and Amy and I are going to my home."

"Hm? Why are we seperating?"

"Noah, this will be the first time your mom sees Clair, right? I don't want to be stuck in the crossfire between your wife and your mother. That's deadly territory where ever you go."

Corvin managed to make half the people in the carriage blush deeply unintentionally. He started watching the world move outside the carriage while thinking about why the two still were embarrassed about this after all that time.

Soon, his thoughts started to vary and questions started popping inside his head about random stuff.

Seeing him delve into his thoughts more and more, Noah searched inside his bag and took out a notebook hastily.

"What's that Noah, why is your expression like that?", asked Clair.

"He is thinking."

"Who... Corvin?"

"Yeah."

"So what?"

"We need to chit chat so he stops thinking."

"Why?"

"You won't be able to handle his 'long journey philosophy mode'."

"What?"

"He starts asking unanswerable questions whenever he falls into thought during long carriage rides."

Just then, Corvin asked something.

"Hey, Noah."

"Oh god..."

"What do you think mana is?"

"Oh no...", muttered Noah with a tired face.

Thankfully, after trying for half an hour, Noah managed to change the topic to be something not philosophical with the help of Clair and Amy. The two girls also swore to themselves to not let Corvin go into that mode again.

*****

After hours on the road, the four reached Demice city and seperated. After deciding on somewhere to meet up after two days, the four seperated into two groups. Noah and Clair left for the Vyolor mansion and Corvin and Amy were left alone.

"Are we going to your village right away?"

"Hmm... Probably. First, let's check the markets."

"Are you looking for something?"

"No, for someone."

"Who?"

"You'll see."

"?"

They walked in the streets and after a bit of walking, Covrin spotted a familiar old man riding a carriage filled with empty boxes. The carriage was leaving, so Corvin started running after it and shouted.

"Uncle Connor! Wait for me!"

The man stopped and turned back.

"Huh? Corvin?"

"Hi Uncle Connor, how have you been?"

"I am good, Corvin. How are you? How is school life going?"

"It's great. Actually I am here with a friend!"

"Hm? Who?"

"Huh?"

"Corvin!"

Just as he was going to look around for Amy, she appeared out of breath.

"Where are you hah~ running? I can't run hah~ like you, wait for me."

"...Sorry, Amy."

He turned towards Connor and introduced her.

"This is Amy, I met her... uh..."

Before he could finish his sentence, with a slight grin Connor spoke.

"Is she your girlfriend?"

"Huh? N-No she isn't."

Both of them turned a bit redder. Amy felt just a little bit annoyed at him denying it so clearly, but she got more embarrassed after realizing she felt that way.

"Hahaha! That can wait more right? You have time after all. Being young is great isn't it? So, do you want me to get you to your house?"

"Yes. Please."

"I was just leaving as well, get in the carriage and tell me how you two met.", he said with a smile.

"That's a lot complicated... Where should I start?"

*****

The injured Queen was still hiding inside the mountain. It had been nine years since she was pushed back and barely escaped with a life threatening injury. If it wasn't for her loyal soldiers, she would have been killed on that day nine years ago.

But she managed to run away. She ran away and hid inside the broken mountain. And after digging for a day, she was already barely containing her instincts. The same instincts that led her and her soldiers into death.

The man that shone like the sun, and his powerful friends. Her army was not strong enough to defeat them, and she almost lost her life.

So the Queen suppressed her instincts. She continued digging with her healthy legs, and created a small cave to hide in. She started to lay her eggs and restart her army once again. As she barely managed to suppress her instincts in check, she made her nest the biggest one the planet has ever seen.

But she also felt it. Because of her instincts that screamed at her continously, she gave a simple order.

Bring humans inside.

The queen was still traumatized from the near death experience she went through at the hands of that shining man and his armies. The army brought humans over time. She placed the humans close enough to calm her instincts, but far enough to not make her cower from fear.
