Crow's Lost Memories

Corvin is a boy who grew up with dreams of changing the world. Humanity is in the brink of civilization changing revolutions. As the waves of turmoil create change, he gets the chance and connections to lead the change of his homeland along with his friends. Will he be able to change the world in the way he wants during the industrial revolution of his planet, or will he fail as he uncovers the truth about reality and his real identity? A/N: This is my first work, and just a simple hobby of mine but I do take it seriously. I want to keep some parts of it different from the rest like how the magic works, and I know it may turn out more complicated than classic game-esque magic, I still like that kind of worldbuilding. I appreciate constructive criticism. Currently 1 chapter per week because I am busy with uni exams. Will be back to 2 per 3 days after everything is over, which will take about three months.

C102- The Strange Girl (1)

Corvin's head was a mess, trying to remember the dream. Something inside him was telling him not to ever let go of that dream, and to remember it no matter what. That's why, as he was walking down the streets, he didn't notice Janeen, who he bumped into.

Bump!

"Ah, sorry miss.", said Corvin and resumed walking while thinking.

It was just a normal minor accident for Corvin and he didn't think much of it. But it was different for Janeen.

'? I can't hear dirty thoughts from him? He looks rich as well...'

Janeen, who had a problem with the dirty minds of the men she used her power to turn into servants, was surprised at her luck. Corvin's clothes looked like it was made from really high quality fabric and he had a very expensive looking sword with him, which humbly showed status and physical strength.

His young face was handsome and his body was slightly more muscular than a boy his age, so he was surely popular between girls around his age like Janeen.

And the most important of all, his mind wasn't dirty like most men Janeen had met in her life. He was thinking deeply about something, and didn't let animalistic thoughts get ahead of his reasoning.

That's why, Janeen, tired of the dirty minds of men, wanted to make him, her servant. She wanted someone who wouldn't stare at her with lust whenever she was around. Someone, whose thoughts that were going to leak into her mind wouldn't be disturbing.

So she reached towards her power and tried to enter Corvin's mind on impulse. She wasn't sure if she wanted him to serve her yet but she found herself reaching for her power. And that's when everything froze and suddenly went dark.

"-!! What's happening!?"

The whole world around her went dark, like the room she used to cry in at night. There was only one thing in the pitch black void. A faint red light coming from where Corvin was standing.

Her breath got faster and faster from fear. Something inside of her was telling her, screaming at her to escape. Her mind was being taken over by her survival instincts.

The red light got brighter and brighter. Something emerged out of the red light, something inconceivable. She didn't know what it was. She couldn't even see it. She could only feel where it was, and she wished she didn't. It was right in front of her nose, it was right behind her back, it was right under her feet, it was right on top of her head, it was inside of her body. It was so far away that one could say it was on the moon. And it was so close that one could say it was inside of her neck. It was everywhere, like a rule of nature, like the laws of the universe. And worst of all, she knew for sure that whatever that thing was, it was hostile to her.

Her breath left her completely, and everywhere on her body felt like it was on fire. Her mind wasn't working properly because of fear and she could only shout in desperation under the immense pressure in front of this being.

"AAHHHH!!! I'M SORRY! PLEASE, LET ME GO! PLEASE!! I AM GOING CRAZY!! I CAN'T HANDLE ANYMORE!! PLEASE!! I WILL NEVER TRY THIS AGAIN!! I PROMISE!!!"

The entity didn't respond, she was screaming for nothing. A synthetic voice echoed throughout the pitch black void and spread throughout space. It felt like the voice was directly inside her whole being.

"Unauthorized Harmful Attempt detected. Warning issued."

"Khak!"

Suddenly, blood started to come from Janeen's mouth and nose. The synthetic voice talked once again.

"A report is sent to the administration."

After the voice said the words, the void quickly went away. Janeen forgot what happened, not that it mattered currently since she also lost her consciousness.

Thud!

"Hm?"

Corvin, who was walking past Janeen heard a loud noise. Turning back, he saw Janeen with blood coming out of her mouth and nose, her face contorted in pain.

"Huh?! Miss?! Are you okay?.. No, of course she isn't, idiot."

Corvin quickly walked towards Janeen and tried to carry her, but his hands stopped in the air. He wasn't sure if it was okay to touch her.

"Ugh, it's not the time to worry about those things... Uhm... Ah! I really am an idiot, aren't I?"

Corvin remembered he could carry her without touching her by using his magic.

Janeen's unconscious body slowly lifted from the ground as she shone slightly green and started to move with Corvin, who was running towards the inn. He was also using his magic to make sure her blood didn't spill to the ground.

Worried that he was the one who hurt her, Corvin carried her towards his room at the inn without alerting the employees. When he laid Janeen on the couch, he quickly ran towards Amy's room.

Knock knock!

"Amy! Are you inside?"

"Y-Yes!? I-I am?! I just came back from the bath."

"Great, can I come in?"

"H-Huh?! I-I'm not r-ready yet... But you can..."

"Okay."

Corvin quickly entered Amy's room and rushed towards her bags on the ground. Standing in the middle of the room while drying her damp hair, Amy watched Corvin quickly run towards her bags, take the one with the medicine and her pills in it and then grab her hand while rushing out of the room.

"W-Wait, Corvin?! What are you doing?!"

"Oh, sorry.", said Corvin and lifted Amy with his magic so she can come with him more comfortably.

Before Amy could say anything, Corvin and her entered his room. And before she could say anything in surprise, she saw an incredibly beautiful girl laying on the couch. There was blood on the girl's face.

"Can you check what is wrong with her?"

"O-Okay... But I am not a doctor, I only know the basics."

"It's okay, that should be enough."

Amy carefully touched the girl's body while examining. Nothing seemed wrong with her at first glance, so she just gave the girl a pill to help her recover and then turned back to Corvin.

"So, who is this?", she asked with a slightly cold tone.

"I-I don't know."

"..."

"W-What's with that look? I just bumped into her in the streets and then she suddenly collapsed."

"... Can you step here for a second?"

"Huh? O-Okay?"

Corvin stood in the middle of the room. Amy walked towards the door and then started to walk towards Corvin. Bumping her shoulder to his, she walked past him.

"What was that for?"

"...Are you sure you didn't do anything else to her?"

"N-No... I don't think so..."

"Then how did she bleed suddenly? You weren't flying in the streets too fast, were you?"

"No, the streets here are too narrow to fly comfortably."

"Then you should ask her what happened. I am going back to my room.", said Amy as she walked towards the door. When she opened the door, she looked back at the boy inside the room, who was looking at her.

"And here I was, expecting something...", she muttered silently.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing. Hmph!"

Clack!

The door closed. After standing in the silence for a while in confusion, Corvin decided to wait until the mysterious girl woke up.
