Chapter 2

(Y/N)'s P.O.V

Some time has passed since that day. I am 14 now and even convinced Roy to let me join the military a year ago. The three of them have their concerns- the only three who know my real identity- but it could be the only way to find out more about myself. Even after all this time I still have not the slightest clue about my past.

Roy has helped me almost master my alchemy. The others seem so confused on why I can transmute without one of those circles the other state alchemists use. My alchemy is a flame type that no one even Roy has ever seen. Mixes of dark and light orange flames melded any material into whatever I wanted to transmute. It is like the standard alchemy but ya know....with a twist.

"(Y/N) You ready? We have to get going as early as possible. We are meeting up with the Fullmetal Alchemist." Roy said from outside my door. I sighed in exasperation. I unintentionally aggressively grabbed my jacket off my bed and roughly opened the door hitting Roy square in the face.

"Ah, should really learn to not stand there by now Roy." I said walking out. I heard him groan in response, forcing me to hold back a snicker.

"Let's go." Roy grumbled walking towards the door, holding his injured nose. We walked outside and I quickly ran to the passenger door and jumped in.

"Good morning Riza." I said smiling at the female in the driver's seat. She returned the smile and gave the same response.

"Is it comfortable back there Roy?" I asked the raven haired man slightly cramped in the back. Once more I just got groaned at then we were on our way to east command.

I wasn't all that excited. I knew I would have a shit ton of work to do as soon as I walked in the door and all I would like to do is work on my alchemy.

When Roy and I entered the room it quieted.

"Jeez Mustang, way to be late." A certain blonde headed pipsqueak complained.

"Yeah, yeah. Now why don't we get to the matter at hand. You have received a new mission...." Roy trailed off.

"Is that all?" Fullmetal asked raising a brow. I, who was sitting in one of the chairs, receiving partial glances from the pipsqueak decided to listen in as well.

"I have been order to send another alchemist with you. It is to prevent that serial killer from taking your life.... You and your partner will be going to collect the research you and your brother need." Roy said.

Fullmetal's eyes lit up then after a quick shared look at the suit of armor he looked back at Roy.

"Who is our partner?" Fullmetal asked. Roy seemed to vividly gulp then ran a hand over his face.

"Your partner is the Crimson Karma Alchemist." Roy said giving me a side glance. My eyes widened tremendously and I stared him down.

My (F/C) hair fell covering one of my eyes then I stood up clearing my throat.

"Seems these are my orders. Let's see how this goes." I said gesturing my hand out for Fullmetal to shake.

"You are my partner? Aren't you like Mustang's puppy?" Fullmetal asked. This irked me slightly. I snapped my fingers and my hand engulfed in a small flame but deadly and pointed straight at the pipsqueaks throat.

"Watch it pipsqueak." I growled. My words seemed to irk him as well then he started ranting. The armor walked over, his steps heavy with each clank. It almost sounded hollow.

"Sorry about him. He can be a bit sensitive when it comes to his height." The armor said....with a little boys voice. I sighed then looked back at Roy.

"Well we should be off. Have fun with your boring desk job Flame alchemist." I sneared. The three of us walked outside and to a car that was waiting for us. I sat in the front and the brothers sat in the back.

"Well since we are partners for the time being, how about a proper introduction? I'm Edward Elric and this is my brother Alphonse." Edward said. I remained silent.

"Just call me Karma for short. Giving out my name is of no importance to you." I said my arms crossed and my eyes closed. I heard Edward huff and lean back in his seat.

"Now that I think about it, I haven't really heard anything about you. All the rumors on the street just say you are one of the few military dogs to be enlisted so young." Edward casually said looking out his window.

"I remain a walking mystery. Only three people know anything about me. This is my first time actually out in the field. That would only be because Mustang believes you might need assistance if you were to encounter this alchemist killer." I spoke still paying no additional attention to the conversation.

"You sure are full of yourself." Edward said. I looked out the window, littered with dew drops and twirled my hair around my finger.

'Yeah it helps me keep a sane mind. Helps let people stay away from me.' I thought to myself. Suddenly the car jerked to a stop, meaning we reached our destination. The three of us got out then was met with one of Roy's men, Havoc.

"Hey guys." Havoc waved. We all walked into the building in front of us, seemingly to be someone's home. Havoc knocked and a man with glasses answered. He seemed run down and tired. Havoc introduced ed us and asked if he would mind us looking at his research. The man, introducing himself as Tucker welcomed us in and went to the kitchen to prepare some tea.

I decided now that we were indoors I would take off my hood that I wore along with the mask, but only the hood I let down. I ruffled my hair making it look even more extravagantly messy. I looked over at Fullmetal to see him just staring at me. He saw me notice and quickly looked away with a rosy red tint to his cheeks.

"So why exactly are we here looking at Tucker's research? What is it you are researching?" I asked, trying to gather more info.

The boy's looked at each other laughing nervously. "Oh well....uh....we are looking for the philosopher stone." Edward said. I had heard of that stone before but not much of it.

The nervousness Edward displayed was unusual, there is more to it than that, he isn't just looking for this stone.

Havoc had left saying he would be back later to pick us up. After he left Tucker came back with tea.

"So you want to take a look at my research, is that right?" Tucker asked.

"Yes, if you don't mind." Edward responded.

"Alright" Tucker said making Edward grin. "But if I'm showing you the tricks up my sleeves it is only fair you show me yours. After that is the law we alchemists live by, equivalent exchange." Tucker added.

I rested my head on my hand that was propped up on the table. I looked at Edward and took a sip of my tea. I was really quite intrigued to see what his reasons were.

"Brother...." Alphonse trailed off.

"No it is alright Al." Edward said then started explaining.

When Edward was done with his story I sat there with wide eyes and my mouth slightly agape. I had read of human transmutation but never heard of someone attempting it.

I gathered my composer again then smirked a little. 'These two just became even more interesting.' I thought to myself.

"Oh my, an eleven year old attempting human transmutation....and this was the toll you paid. Well I don't know if you will find the answers you seek, but feel free to look through all my research." Tucker said. The boys cheered then we all got up and followed Tucker to his laboratory.

The second Tucker opened the door to all of the bookshelves filled to the brim with books the boy's got started. I found myself a nice chair and sat there observing as the two read away.

After about an hour passed by I started losing my mind with the silence. I got off my little wooden chair and walked up behind Edward, not intentionally being silent. I looked over his shoulder at all the information contained on the page he was reading. After a moment he noticed me and his face exploded into a deep crimson red.

"U-Um what are you doing?" Edward asked.

I chuckled slightly at his reaction. "I have grown a bit bored so I thought I would see what is so absorbing about these books." I said simply.

Before Edward replied we heard laughter and went to go investigate. Around the corner of a bookshelf we saw Alphonse and Tucker's daughter Nina playing horsey. I thought it was adorable.

"Al we came here to do some research not play horsey." Edward said grumpily.

I honestly am not all that found of kids but this picture was too cute.

"Oh lighten up mister grouchy pants. I think you guys could use a break- Oh my." I said cutting myself off when Nina's dog, Alexander smashed Edward down to the floor.

"Look Alexander wants to play too!" Nina said.

"Alright doggy, you wanna play? Let's play." Edward said mischievously then running after the giant dog.

After playing the remainder of the day away, Havoc came to pick us up.

"Oh uh, hey Ed what ya doing down there?" Havoc asked seeing Edward once again clobbered by the giant dog.

Edward got up dusting himself off. "You look dog tired" Tucker said covering his mouth with his hand. Full pun intended. Tucker then said we were welcome to come back tomorrow which made Nina happy.

As we walked out of the house Havoc turned back relaying a message from Roy to Tucker.

"The Colonel says to tell you assessment day is coming up." Havoc said.

"Tell the Colonel I am well aware." Tucker replied then we left.

Dun dun dun....
