A survivor's tale written in bløød💌.....
-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Fade in:
Darkness engulfs every inch. Nothing but pure darkness. Nothing can be seen. Nothing can be heard. The atmosphere is tense. This state of suspense continues until a solemn, thick and manly voice echoes through the vacuum.
BAYO
If only we humans could rewind the hands of time....
The darkness suddenly disappears and we are immediately brought to light. A bright sun illuminates the entire surroundings including the fallen city below it. Tall and empty commercial building hang around with broken doors and windows. Different destroyed cars and automobiles hang around without anyone to use it. All the roads are empty, the subway is empty. It pretty much looks like something big went down here. This is a freaking ghost town.
LOCATION: Osogbo City, Osun State, Nigeria, West Africa -
October 1st 2080
Amidst hundreds of empty roads, a particular one catches our attention. Perhaps maybe because it's a special road, maybe because we can actually spot a single moving vehicle coming towards us. The voice continues....
BAYO(voice over)
Welcome to Nigeria.....my father's land.
The vehicle is a brown pickup truck and it's moving pretty fast. Inside the truck we spot two figures. A driver and a passenger. The resemblance between these two is purely evident.
BAYO(voice over)
Well....not necessarily anyone's land anymore.... it is a bløødy bad land now.
The two are actually brothers, one older than the other by a considerable margin. The older one is obviously behind the wheels while the younger one just sits on the other side and observes the whole scenery through the window. Meet Bayo and Kunle, survivors of whatever happened in this no man's land. We watch as they both travel in silence and the voice continues..
BAYO(voice over)
I remember when I still used to go to church....well at least before all this mess.....our pastor always told us about the end of the world.
The truck keeps travelling with high level speed in a straight pattern without changing direction for a single second.
BAYO (voice over)
He always told us about how the righteous would be taken up into heaven and how the sinners would be left alone on earth to perish.....
Bayo, the one behind the wheels stares at his younger brother, Kunle and smiles. The bond between the two brothers is something we easily notice. Bayo takes his right hand off the wheel and pats Kunle on the shoulders.
BAYO(Voice over)
He told us about the bowls of pestilence and plagues which the angels of God would pour upon the earth during that time. Well, the end of the world happened six months ago.....and it didn't take any of the forms our pastor had described.....
Kunle angrily takes Bayo's hands off his shoulders expressing his anger over something not quite known to us.
BAYO(Voice over)
It came in the form of.... zombies. Yes you heard that right, zombies, the creatures we only find in movies...dead, brainless and primitive....only wants eat...
Bayo tries to pat Kunle again but Kunle dusts his shoulders off his elder brother's grip. Bayo's smile disappears in disappointment and grief. He returns his right hands back to the wheels and continues driving in silence.
BAYO(Voice over)
And I think my brother and I are the only ones left alive and not dead. We are wanderers now.....looking for greener pasture as we try to survive this shitty bad lands.
The two brothers are silent and the throbbing of the car engines is the only thing we can hear. Bayo decides to break the silence.
BAYO
Kunle look.....I'm sorry okay....mabinu....I know you're hungry....
KUNLE
We Neva chop for two days now....yet, you show no sign that we will stop anytime soon.....
BAYO
If we stop....we die....those monsters are everywhere....
KUNLE
At least be considerable....I know you have strong stomach.....I'm not so strong and we can't keep driving forever.
BAYO
We can't stop now.... remember what happened the last time we stopped?
Kunle suddenly goes silent and out of excuses after hearing that last question. He slowly retreats back into his thoughts. Something really bad must have happened the last time they stopped.
BAYO
We can't keep riding forever.....I know that....but we're in the middle of nowhere....I mean.....can't you see....look around you. We can't survive alone....we need to look for other people like us.... survivors. Hold your stomach....it's only a matter of time.
There is another sudden silence in the car before Kunle spots something ahead. A large building actually with a large sign board "SHOP RITE". It looks empty just like the rest of the roads. Kunle's eyes widen as he spots this oasis in the middle of nowhere.
KUNLE
Is that not a shopping mall up ahead...
BAYO
Of course it is.....
Bayo doesn't stop. He keeps marching on till he drives past the building without looking back. Kunle is mad at this and his expression shows that he is truly mad.
KUNLE
Why na.....why na.....wetin be dis....wetin be dis....
Bayo looks into his brother's innocent eyes. He remembers when everyone and everything was till okay. He is struck by guilt. His brother doesn't deserve this pain, or suffering or hunger. He marches on the brakes and reverses back to the building. He stops the car and turns off the engines.
Bayo reaches into the drawer beside him and grabs a fully loaded shotgun. He also grabs a superhard jean like piece of cloth and wraps it round his shoulders, wrists and every other exposed areas of his limbs and fore limbs. Some kind of protection I think. He gives Kunle a small handgun and some jean cloths . He is about to open the door of the car when he suddenly stops in his thoughts and pulls Kunle back from opening the door.
BAYO
Listen and listen carefully.....you know the rules....no noise....the noise attracts them.....we go in there, grab a few things enough for us to survive at least a month....
KUNLE
Noted bro....
Kunle is about to open the door when Bayo pulls him back again for a final word.
BAYO
I want you to know one thing.....
KUNLE
What?
BAYO
If we die here today....our hopes of finding Tumininu dies along with it....so....try not to die.
KUNLE
We will find her....don't worry.
Bayo and Kunle simultaneously open the door. They both stand as they observe the building. The cold Nigerian Harmattan wind blows on them like storm. Their hiking boots dig into the sand as they approach the shopping mall.
Among all other building, this shopping mall is the only one that looks all right. No destruction, no broken windows, no vandalism, no sign of life. Not even a lizard. It looks like it has just been built.

LOCATION: ShopRite mall - Osun State Branch
The shiny glass door opens and the two brothers step into the mall. The interiors looks good as new. The lights are on, the food, drinks and other products are arranged accordingly. It's like this place never got hit by the plague. Everything is neatly arranged. Even the freezers are still cold.
KUNLE
Holy Mother of Molly....
BAYO
Shhhhhush....
They both walk down the hall way. They are amazed by how well preserved this place is. Kunle walks to the chips section and grabs two bags of chips he throws it in the basket and walks to the canned food section to select other items. Bayo still doesn't feel good about the place. He goes deeper into the mall leaving young Kunle to do the shopping.
As Kunle picks what he needs, we notice a figure behind him. Surely looks human but drips bløød from every single hole in it's body, possesses pure white eyeballs, a perfect creature from hell, an average zombie. The creature spots Kunle and advances towards him at dazzling speed. The zombie leaps onto Kunle startling the hell out of him. The zombie tries hard to overpower Kunle and bite him on the neck. Kunle struggles to avoid the chaos as he pulls out his gun but the zombie is too strong, Kunle's hands stutter and he drops his gun by mistake.
Kunle realizing how fucked up he is gathers enough energy to kick away the zombie. He quickly crawls over to his gun and picks it up. He stands upright and doesn't wait for the zombie to get back up. He opens fire on the zombie. Blam! Blam! Blam! Kunle release four rounds into the creature's chest. It doesn't die. It keeps coming. Just when the creature is about to finish Kunle off, a loud deafening bang is heard and the explosion of the zombie's head follows.
The head of the zombie explodes into a zillion pieces splashing rotten black bløød all over the place and on Kunle. The zombie falls down to the ground dead. More bløød spills from the wound on to the white tiles. Kunle breathes heavily as he recovers from the attack. He looks towards where the bang came from and spots Bayo. Bayo walks up to Kunle and starts checking his whole body. From arms and to legs.
BAYO
Were you bitten?
KUNLE
No....
BAYO
We need to get the hell out of here and fast!
Bayo pulls Kunle and Kunle pulls the basket. They hurrily walk towards the door. Just when they are about to reach the door, a zombie pulls up from their side. Bayo blasts off it's head. It dies immediately. Three more appear from behind, a loud mass shriek is heard, sounds like hundreds of them. The noise of several foots stamping the ground immediately fills the air. From several doors, windows, vents, uncountable zombies burst out. Hungry ones. They burst out in hundreds and they charge towards Bayo and Kunle.
BAYO
No...no....not now....why now?..
Bayo pulls Kunle and they both run up stairs as a gazillion zombies chase after them to eat them.
KUNLE
What do we do....
BAYO
Like I said earlier....try not to die...
The zombies are getting closer. They're literally running like cheetahs, pushing each other, trying their best to get the very first bite. Bayo and Kunle keep running towards the unknown destination when an authoritative voice from ahead is heard.
UNKNOWN VOICE
Lie down flat now!!!!!!!
To be continued...
