Chapter 13: An Average Day

Abigail’s POV

Elle texted me her address Tuesday morning. She ended her message by saying “see you later!” followed by a smiley face. I didn’t have work on Tuesday, but Momma didn’t have to know.

I left the house at my usual time, nine in the morning, and headed to the local cat café until Elle got out of work. I played with Casper, an older white cat, who only had three legs. For being a three-legged cat, he had a lot of spunk. He loved toys with bells and if you shook one, he would come barreling through the room to find the source of the jingling.

I showed up at Elle’s apartment a little after two in the afternoon. It was a quiet building in a green neighborhood where trees lined the streets. Upon pulling up, I could immediately tell which door belonged to Elle.
