Follow the story of this man on his way to become the best swordsman in a world of terror and madness. I do not own the cover, I have no problem if the author wants me to change it. Your Luck Has Run Out

Chapter 42: Your Luck Has Run Out

"You want to kill my son!"

"You want to kill my son!"

Megose's voice deepened and reverberated in William's head as if someone were shouting into his ear with a megaphone.

He felt something warm slide down his nose. He quickly realized that it was blood.

Megose's screams changed from extremely high-pitched to so low that they were no longer intelligible. William's head was spinning and he could barely stay on his feet.

Klein was the first to act. He opened the box that he had brought with him from Chanis Gate.

The surroundings turned dark as if the Sun itself could not illuminate it, and with it appeared countless black threads floating in the air.

The threads rushed towards Megose and wrapped around her. Her eye fell out of its socket.

"You must die!" She screamed.

"Captain!" William lunged at Dunn and pushed him away just in time to avoid a shock wave that shattered the wall.

"Sorry, thanks, boy!" Dunn seemed to be taken back to the years of his youth, a tremendous vitality welling up in him.

"Captain, take this." Klein handed over the Sealed Artifact that produced the threads, and Dunn held on tight. The threads tightened even more around Megose.

The girl's body began to secrete a yellow liquid that smelled of sulfur, but it did not affect her restraint at all.

Klein, Leonard, and William moved hastily. The first one held a warm thin gold slice, Leonard pointed with all five of his fingers, using another Sealed Artifact.

William lopped off both the woman's head and arms in a flash. This alone was not going to stop the descent of a God, but it allowed them to buy some time due to the sudden loss of the brain.

The head on the ground screamed and produced a terrifying shriek. He was about to apply a curse to all who tried to harm his son.

However, his words got stuck in his throat, his veins and arteries bulging like worms trying to escape. This was the effect of the Sealed Artifact that Leonard had used.

"Light!" Klein spoke in the Ancient Hermes language.

The gold slice in his hand suddenly gave off a blinding glow, as if it had turned into a miniature Sun.

The darkness vanished instantly, the roof of the Blackthorn Security Company shattered to pieces, and the blue sky shone together with the miniature Sun.

Rumble!

There was a small earthquake and nearby glass broke. William could barely keep his eyes open as he watched the flames burn and rise to the heavens, along with black ash.

'That's it?' He felt incredulous.

Then an arm reached out of the flames and attacked Klein, who dodged it by inches. Even so, he received a painful gash across his chest that nearly reached his lungs.

Megose emerged from the flames, though she was nothing like her previous appearance anymore.

Her hair and her dress had been completely burned. The skin on her face and body was charred and peeling off, flake after flake. Her nose had melted away, leaving only two small black holes. Her eyeballs were nowhere to be seen, and there were faint white flames dancing in the empty sockets.

The two heads that had appeared on either side of Megose's shoulders had been burned. Her left arm had turned into the white bone blade that she held. She seemed demonic but holy.

She ignored the other Nighthawks and slowly approached Klein.

"Submit!"

Leonard took down the curse he had stolen earlier and used it on Megose herself. It was effective because it came from herself!

She froze on the spot. Klein seized the opportunity and pulled out another gold slice.

Boom!

Her head exploded, but her body shot out like a projectile even without it. He crashed into Leonard before anyone had time to avoid him, and he was sent flying, spitting up a large amount of blood and knocking himself unconscious.

William grabbed Debris, giving up worrying about being exposed. But at that moment a new sound shook the soul of the Nighthawks.

"Waah." It was the cry of a baby.

"I won't let you!" William exclaimed angrily.

Debris let out a fearsome aura. The sword plunged into Megose's stomach.

At that moment, the world around William vanished. Young Nighthawk felt his heart lurch at the sight of the figure before him.

There was a hill and at the top was an inverted cross. A giant man was crucified on this cross, with many chains wrapped around his body. On top of that, he was upside down.

"You really are strange, especially seeing you in person." The Hanged Man spoke in a strangely normal voice, though at no time did he open his mouth.

'Don't look God in the eye!" William reminded himself and closed his eyes.

"Heh, don't be naive, even if you close your eyes, just hearing my voice up close would turn you into blood paste." He scoffed at the lazy attempt.

Noticing that fact, William opened his eyes again and stared at the True Creator in disbelief.

"Why am I here?" He asked.

"I'm curious about your person." The God answered. "However, it looks like even you don't have the answers yet. I'll be watching you."

"Wh-"

William couldn't finish speaking when his surroundings changed again. Debris was going through Megose's stomach, sticking out of her back.

The mutilated and mutated body of the woman began to vanish into thin air.

"We did it?" Klein muttered under his breath.

William was still too confused with what had just happened, his knees buckled tiredly and he had to support one on the ground to avoid falling.

"Well done guys. We saved Tingen" Dunn muttered a few last words before falling unconscious. The Sealed Artifact that he had used for so long used a lot of resistance from the user.

'We have to fix this before a lot of people start coming.' William looked up at Klein and his eyes widened.

A man was behind Klein. Blood dripped from his arm as he removed it from the Nighthawk's chest.

His hair from him was dark blonde and his pupils from him were so blue that it was nearly black. He had a high nose and his lips were tightly pursed. His facial features of him were like a classic sculpture without any wrinkles.

'Ince Zangwill!' William's mind fired up like a motor. That's right, it was all orchestrated by Ince Zangwill along with 0-08! 'Klein!'

He got to his feet quickly. Ince Zangwill was a Sequence 5 Beyonder, but along with 0-08, he had the power of a Sequence 4, a Demigod!

"Sorry, now it's your turn." Zangwill started to move closer to William.

"Shit, Klein!" Seeing his friend on the ground, he stopped reasoning.

'I can't escape, Leonard and the Captain are still here.' William closed his eyes in despair. 'At this point, I have nothing to lose.'

Suddenly, he reached into his pocket and pulled out something. He lifted it at arm's length: it was a chain, attached to which was a silver cross.

Ince Zangwill stopped at this and his eyes widened.

"That is-." His words died in his throat as the cross glowed silver.

The world seemed to stop for an instant, and a second later bone after bone began to rise from the ground.

Countless corpses poured out, joining together to form a cathedral of bones. It should have been a macabre scene, but the cathedral felt like seeing God himself, sacred and immovable.

"Rest now, young man." A man in a white priest's robe, with golden hair and beard, as well as blue eyes like those of an innocent child, stood next to William.

'How long was he by my side?' The Nighthawk was suddenly not sure if he could answer that question correctly.

"Ince Zangwill, I'm afraid your luck has run out." Adam stated quietly, a pure smile on his face.
