Chapter 9

Deep in the night, Avery was staring at the opened window as she watches the moon shine brightly in the sky. She was lost in thoughts for a long while until she heard his deep manly voice. Why aren't you sleeping yet? He asked. Avery slowly turned to him as she stares at him. She has been thinking if she could ask James for the money. She didn't know if he will give her or not but her mind keep telling her to try. To have faith; she was scared of what his response will be but she shrugged it off.

I am not tired. She said as she walked slowly towards him. James kept staring at her in the dimly lit room. Her beauty was shining. Her flawless hair was perfect and her voice was like music in his ear. What was wrong with him? Was he already falling for her ? No that can't be. He loved only one woman and that is Becky. Becky is his one and true love. He had love her since they were little.

So how can he fall for her? Instead, he hate and harden his heart. He thought coldly.

Then why stare at the window? He asked icely. Uhm , James I have something to ask from you. She said her voice weak. What? He asked seriously. Uhm I am in need of some money. I want to pay for my father bills. She said looking down while she fiddle with her fingers.

Is that all? He asked. And Avery nodded and after that there was a long pause of silence. After the deafening silence, James finally spoke and what he said shattered Avery and broke her down.

I don't give our money to debtors and one more thing. I can't give you. Look for ways to get the money for your sick father treatment or you become a harl....

Stop. !!! Pls stop. Enough pls. Avery yelled tears lurked in her eyes. Why? Why can't you give me? Do you really hate me so much? Am I that bad to you? Why ? Avery cried you really hate me so much? Am I that bad to you? Why ? as the lurked tears flooded her face. She was in pain. What did I ever do to deserve this from you? If you really hate me, why don't you kill me then. Then you can have fun with your lover Becky . Avery yelled crying painfully. James expression was unreadable. He didn't bother to wipe her tears away. He didn't near her and just moved back. He was so confused and left the room. He was walking through the hall way when he came across the mysterious painting, a dark man wearing a black mask holding a sword. His eyes were fixated on the sword as his aura began to ooze out of his body

He was emitting such a dangerous aura that cloak him. He was angered as the rage consumed and he angrily left the mansion before his inner beast could make him do what he will regret. James was driving like a crazy bullet maniac. The car was heavily hot and he sped off in max speed." Do you really hate me so much? Am I that bad to you? Why ? Her cries and pained voice lingered in his ears. He couldn't bear it and before he knew it, he crashed his car into a tree trunk. James punched the door opened and the door broke like as though it was ripped apart. He got down from the car and walked towards the lake.

He was staring at the water for so long before he finally jumped inside. James stayed under the water for a very long time without coming out .Avery was seated on the floor crying. She didn't know what to do or say at that moment. She was hurt by the way he treats her as if she is nobody. She was utterly broken. Maybe the best thing to do is run away. She thought as she wiped her tears. She couldn't bear the suffering anymore so the best thing is to escape. Avery left the room and went downstairs. She saw that the whole mansion was quiet. So she decided to sneak out, as she was about to open the double doors. Some one stopped her. It was one of the hefty men. Ma'am , we are sorry but we can't let you out. It's late. Do you need anything? He said apologetically. Avery panic but she was calm. She already knew it was James doing. And why is that? She asked challenging the man. It's an order from the boss. The man replied and Avery just nodded and went back upstairs. If she can't escape through the front door. Then she will escape in the dangerous way. She entered her room and locked the door. She won't stay here anymore. Her mental health is at stake and she can't let one heartless man kill her before her time. She went through the window and without thinking twice she jumped off. She was falling so high that she was scared of dying. No she can't die possibly like this. She thought as she berate herself for what coming. But , Before she could realize what was going on she fell into the swimming pool and she began to float. She gasped hard as she swam in the water before reaching a safe side. Avery swam and managed to come out of the water. She was soaked wet from head to toe. She was coughing till she finally calmed down.

She sigh. Tonight she was going to escape from his torturous home. She couldn't bear the emotional trauma he is causing her. She Thought. She ran towards the main gate and slowly opened it before she began to run as fast as her legs could carry. She was running through the dark estate which was deafening silent. She kept on running non stop till she reached the main road. Meanwhile, at the lake , the calm water finally moved and made some noise and behold, James emerged from the water like a god of war. He swept his wet hair backwards as his glimmered in the dark. He kept looking at a far off distance walking out of the water like a god of slaughter. He came out and stood like a majestic king. His anguish aura was finally gone and he looked calm. He walked further away from the water and went towards the broken car. He brought out his phone and called someone. Hello? How is she? He asked calmly. Sir, she .... The man couldn't complete his word because James disconnected his call. James expression was unfathomable as usual as he left the lake.

Avery kept running non stop until her lungs finally gave her and she fell flat on the floor. She groaned in pain and was about to stand up when she saw a hand stretched towards her. She slowly raised her face and looked who has come to save only to froze on the spot. How? She couldn't believe it. She was so shocked and scared. How could he appear before her while she is..

James was standing tall as he was as he gazes at her. He stretched his hand for her to grasp but Avery was so shocked to her bones. She couldn't believe her eyes. Was she hallucinating? She thought as she close her eyes to end this shocking night mare but it was real. She finally opened her eyes and placed her hands on his for him to grasp as he helped her up. He grabbed her by her waist as he stares at her deeply in her eyes. Avery was lost in his mesmerizing eyes once again. She was once again drawn to that dark eyes of his which held lots of mysterious secrets. They kept staring at each other until Avery broke the eye contact first blushing hard. Her heart was racing faster and faster. But she was pulled out from her thoughts when James grabbed her wrist and took her to the car and he drove off.
