When returning from the tomb-sweeping ceremony, Ava rode in Franklin's car. Inside the car, Franklin sat and leaned back, closing his eyes to rest.
"Shall we go back to Larson's house?" Ava asked as she looked at the scenery receding outside the window.
"Mhm..."
"Your mother, she..."
Hearing Ava mention his mother, Franklin opened his starry eyes as deep as the sea and turned to look at her but didn't say anything.
"If you don't want to answer, just pretend I didn't say anything." Being stared at by him, Ava replied unnaturally.
"You want to know about my mother?" Franklin asked. He thought she wouldn't ask, after all, their marriage was based on a transaction.
Ava pursed her lips and met his eyes, "Your mother is also my mother."
From the moment the maid heard about what happened to his mother, her heart seemed to be tightly entangled by some force, making her feel suffocated. Perhaps this was what was called heartache.
