Twenty six

"Hello?"

"Jerry,"

"Yeah?" I said waiting for her to go on, I just hope she wasn't pissed after the whole drama with Jessie.

"I uhmm..... I wanted to ask you for something?"

"Okayyy?"

"I want ice cream."

"What?" She just said she wanted to ask me for something and now she was saying she wanted ice cream.

"I want to eat ice cream, I've been craving it all afternoon, will you get me some?"

"You want me to get you ice cream?"

"Yeah."

"To your apartment?"

"Yessss." She stressed the S in her yes like she was a little girl.

"Okay, I'll go get some and bring it over."

"Oh thank you sooo much."

"Yeah." I said before cutting the call and getting up from my bed immediately, throwing the blanket off of me.

"Are you going out?" Dylan asked when I started changing into a new trouser, getting ready to leave.

"Yeah, I have to get something." I wasn't going to tell him that I wanted to get some ice cream to Ann's place.

"Oh okay, you are gonna get us something to eat on your way back right?"

"Yeah, what should I get?" I asked him.

"Anything will do." He shrugged and I headed out after picking up my jacket.

I headed out with a smile on my face, she wasn't mad about the hug with Jessie. When I got into the taxi, my smile faded at the realization that she wasn't MAD about the hug with Jessie, she really didn't care that much if I was with Jessie.

It was finally my turn after waiting in line for the ice cream. It was the best ice cream station around and so the lines were justifiable.

"Your order?" The middle aged lady behind the sales counter asked me and it immediately occurred to me that I didn't know what flavour of ice cream Ann liked. I decided to call her to ask what flavour she wanted me to get her.

I looked up from my phone and the woman behind the counter was tapping the countertop with her fingers impatiently. Ann wasn't picking up her calls, was she alright? I just hoped her roommate was with her.

"I'll have two of the chocolate cups please." I told the woman.

"What size, small cups, medium or large?"

"Uhmm..."

"We also have super large cups, they are new." She informed me me.

"I think I will have two of the medium sized cups."

"Okay." She said and poked her head in the square opening behind her, she turned back around with a takeaway bag containing the ice creams.bI took it and paid her before heading to Ann's.

"Who is it?!" I heard Ann's roommate asked loud enough for me to hear from wherever she was.

"It's me; Jerry." I replied waiting at their apartment's door.

"Jerry?" I heard her ask, unsure. Was Ann there too? It sounded like she(Lily) was in the living room."Oh Jerry!" I heard her again, she sounded like she just remembered she knew a Jerry.

The apartment's door opened and there Lily was, all smiles, I couldn't see Ann. I stood outside, not wanting to go in if Ann wasn't around but Lily also stood there not saying anything and just smiling.

"Uhmm, is Ann here?" I decided to ask, scratching my head with my free left hand.

"Yeah! Yeah, she is." She nodded stepping out of the way for me to go in.

I went in, walking slowly with the takeaway nylon in my hands. I stopped by the smaller of the two couches in their living room, turning around and seeing her still standing there, the door still opened.

"Are you....are you gonna let her know I'm here?" I asked when she was staring at me, not moving from where she stood by the door.

"Yeah." She nodded, finally closing the door and walking up to me.

"Ann?!" She called loudly standing opposite me, still smiling at me. I subconsciously started to tap my foot, but I didn't make any noise doing that."Ann?! Jerry is here!"

I heard a thud, it seemed to come from the hallway leading to their room. Was that Ann? I started towards there but Lily had beat me to it. She had ran over there before me.

"Ann, o my god, are you okay." Lily asked seeing Ann hold her forehead.

"Ann." I found myself muttering, and going closer to her. She didn't seem to be in much pain but I was still worried.

"What happened?"

"I hit my head on the wall." She said, her hands still over her forehead.

"What were you doing?" I asked in a voice that I realized i sounded like Dylan's whenever he was been a total DAD about me returning late to the lodge. I was just caring that she didn't hurt herself.

"Coming to see and meet you?" She rolled her eyes as she replied in a harsher tone that I thought I sounded like when asking her what she was doing to hit her forehead against the wall like that.

"Are you bleeding?" I removed her hands from her head to get my answer myself. There weren't any blood on her forehead.

"No, I'm fine, I just felt a little dizzy walking out here." She said brushing my hands off and walking past me and Lily and heading to the living room. She paused in her movements and turned to me sharply with a demanding look;

"You did bring the ice cream right?" She asked looking like she was ready to tear me up.

"Yeah, I did. It's there." I pointed to the living room. She sighed on getting my reply before continuing on her way to the living room.

Lily and I followed her to the living room and I could see her rumbling through the packaged nylon in which the ice cream cups were.

I slid both my hands in my trouser pockets, watching her. I just saw that she was wearing a singlet, a light one with thin straps. I could see her pointy nipples through the white singlet. I swallowed before looking away but my mind went back to the first time I was in this apartment.
