Twenty five

With Jessie's arms still tightened around me, I saw Ann say something to Dylan before leaving for her car, her roommate following behind. It was only after she left that Ann freed me of the hug. She wiped her tears with a small face towel of hers.

"Thanks, that helped." She said with a smile but I could only think of Ann's reaction.

"What did she say?" I asked Dylan after leaving where I stood before with Jessie.

"Nothing, she just said she had to go." Dylan replied and started going to board a cab.

"Just that?"

"Well.... yeah? What else do you expect she said?" We got into the cab and it started to drive."Are you worried she saw you with Jessie?" Dylan asked but I didn't answer, I only sighed but he could still tell.

"You both aren't dating or anything, you can do whatever shit you want with anyone and anywhere." he added.

"She looked pissed," i finally said my worry."maybe not pissed, I don't know, maybe annoyed."

"She shouldn't be." Dylan said.

"I know, we are not dating but....."

"But what? Bro, you've got to be free okay, she's the one who wants to keep the pregnancy, enjoy been able to go out with other girls." Dylan said again and I didn't know how to start explaining to him that, that wasn't the point here.

"Says a guy who I've never seen going out with a girl. Are you really giving me advice right now? Am I letting you do that?" I asked jokingly.

"Did you just say that?" Dylan gasped.

"I just did." It was the truth, since I knew him and since we begun sharing a room, I could healthily swear that I had never seen him with a girl.

"I'm just gonna act you didn't just say that." I heard him say before he looked out the window.

While we were back at the lodge, I was practically non busy with nothing to do. I had *nothing′ course assignment and I didn't feel like reading with Dylan.

I turned in bed as I scrolled through my different social media, I would play an online game but I wasn't really in the mood. Dylan got off his reading spot at the desk and chair at the side of his bed.

A call suddenly popped through my phone, i knew it should be Ann calling, I still hadn't saved her number but I knew it offhand at this point, I tried picking it up but my phone's screen started to twitch and it stopped ringing before I could answer the call. I was about calling her back when my phone rang again and I immediately answered without looking at what name was written on the screen as the caller, I just assumed it to be Ann calling back.

"Ann?" I said after I picked the call.

"Ann? Who is Ann?" I heard another woman's voice; it wasn't Ann, it was my mum. Shit.

"Mum...." I called before trailing off because I didn't know what to say.

"How are you?"

"I'm good, just have to follow up with every class, which can be stressful at times."

"Okay, hope you are eating well?"

"Uhmmmmm...yeah."

"Tell me, it's not just been burgers?" She said sounding worried but I laughed.

"No, it's not, sometimes it's pizza or...."

"Jeremy." She stopped me from talking.

"Mum."

"Take care of yourself, I don't want you coming back home for school break and looking all skinny."

"I'm not gonna be skinny, trust me." I assured her, she often worried about little things like this, I couldn't wait for my sister to finally be done with highschool and go to her higher institution, maybe my mum won't be calling me alone and also call her as well to tell her things like this.

"I miss you around here." I heard her say and I could imagine her smile from over the phone, her beautiful smile.

"I miss you too mum." I did miss her.

"No you don't," She laughed shortly before continuing,"you were always telling Brie how you couldn't wait to leave home and how you were going to be free of your dad and I."

"Whatttttt?" I asked laughing because I remembered when I would tell that to my sister but I didn't know she knew I said those things."I do miss you mum, really." I said after I stopped laughing; I really did miss her.

"I know you do, alright I have to go, I was just waiting for your dad to come home so he could drive with me to the hospital for my check-up."

"Oh okay."

"Jerry?" I heard my dad ask If I was the one on the phone from the call's background.

"Bye mum, I love you." I said and hung up immediately. I didn't want to talk to him. When I heard his voice, it reminded me of the situation with Ann;

They didn't know yet, I hadn't told them. I chuckled at my self, staring at my phone but not really looking at it. It was funny that I almost forgot that I impregnated a girl in college and was going on with every passing day like it was okay to be expecting a baby in my first year in college.

Her parents didn't know, my parents didn't know too and my mum just reminded me that the school break was coming up.

I had not thought of that, after our first semester exams, Ann would have to go home for the break. I wondered how she would go home with the pregnancy, her bump would be visible by then...unless she didn't plan to go home. I was still thinking about all of it when my phone rang again. I checked this time and it was Ann calling.

"Hello?"
