Khadija was still a small girl and nothing more; she was not ready for this harsh world filled with monsters and magic. She was not ready for such cruelty and madness. She had anticipated dire circumstances, but this was exceeding all the limits.

But what most people didn't know that she was also a brave girl, braver than anyone had any right to be. She had stood up for Isra all her life, and despite the odds, they had won. She valued protecting her friends over primal fear. And that made her a menace to begin with.

Khadija got up and started walking towards the structure. She was going to save #212 despite the fear, just because he was her friend. She ran slowly at first, in doubt. Then, her pace quickened, and soon she sprinted along the rocky surface leading to the tower-like structure where they were fighting.

Along the way, something shiny caught her eye. She stopped by it and saw a thing that looked like a huge needle or a bone of some sort? It was almost her height, and slightly curved in shape. Dug deep into the earth. She took it out and continued sprinting towards the gate.

Upon closing onto the structure she saw its enormity, It looked like a long dome resembling a snake head, protruding outwards from the earth. On top of it, she could see the hole that #212 had made when breaking out.

Her white suit was torn at places and her helmet long discarded and thrown away, and her wrists had ugly markings of the shackles around them. But that didn't matter to her anymore. Soon she reached the gates and what she saw, left her pale.

#212 was bleeding heavily, barely being able to move, and the snake laid dead upon his claws. Its face was completely gone, and the horns were broken. Khadija walked down and hugged #212.

"We have to get out of here before they come back," #212 said.

"Yes, let's get out of here. Is there anyone else left?" She asked innocently.

"Just us," he replied.

And a grim silence settled over the world.

"Do you still have the communicator with you, Khadija?"

"I don't, they confiscated it, probably, or I lost it in the gateway. I don't know where it is, I'm sorry." She almost started crying again.

"Don't worry. Come, let's go."

They limped across the front yard to the main gate, leaving a trail of blood behind.

"I'll be fine; I just need some rest, and my wings will heal. They heal faster when I'm in this state, so don't worry," #212 said.

And just like that, they walked out free, but for how long?
