Chapter 10

"Big brother, Chris!"

I laugh a little when I see a bunch of kids running toward me. I squat down and receive them with my arms.

"Hahahahaha. I came here as I promised. Come on, let's eat some breakfast."

"Yay~"

It has been a habit of mine to visit the orphanage every morning and bring some food here. The orphanage is located a few minutes away from my house. The first time I come here is not me but rather my 'memory' created by the company. I'm the first one that donates money to the orphanage in a few months.

Before I take over this body, I did not have enough time to visit, but after I take over, I decided to visit the orphan and give them a delicious breakfast every morning.

"You know… They will be spoiled if you keep feeding them your delicious food, Chris-san."

I look to the left and see the Orphanage Caretaker, Sister Yuka Kurata.

"I don't think they will become spoiled just from my food, Yuka-san."

"Have you not tasted your own food? It was so good that the child hesitated to eat any other food."

I look at the children behind me and raise one of my eyebrows. I can see them look away and have an embarrassed expression. I sigh before saying.

"You guys… You cannot waste food. Every food that arrives in front of you is a blessing given by god. So, remember to eat your food and never waste it. Do you guys understand?"

"We understand, big brother Chris."

"Good. Come on. You guys should go to the dining room first. I will prepare the food for you."

After hearing my words, the children run inside the building, leaving both sister Yuka and me outside. I take the bag from the ground and walk to the kitchen area of the orphanage. I put out the vegetables and meat from the bag and got ready to wash them. However, before I could do that, Yuka said,

"Let me help you, Chris-san."

"Ah, thank you. Can you wash all the vegetables and meat for me?"

"Of course."

~Two hours later~

I wave my hand at the children and walk away from the orphanage. For a child, they are sure to wake up early. I come over at seven in the morning, and I already see them working around the orphanage.

From wiping the floor to taking care of the grass around the orphanage. They are a diligent bunch.

Anyway, I came to the orphanage to ask the older kids to work part-time at my cafe. There are two sixteen-year-old teens still in the orphanage, and I want them to work for me.

They will start work in the next three days. For now, I will work here alone.

*Tring*

I look at the door and say.

"Welcome! Ah! Lavi! It is nice to see you here."

The first customer of the day is Lavinia Reni.

"How are you? It has been two days since we met. Come on in."

Lavinia sits in front of the counter and looks at the menu above her. After a few seconds, she said,

"I will take your best espresso."

"Coming right up! Do you want some snacks to get along with it?"

"I will take one slice of strawberry cheesecake."

"Coming right up!"

I look around the store with interest. The building releases a warm and comfortable aura. I like it. To my surprise, I try to check the surrounding area subtly, and there is no magical barrier around the area.

Is he really confident with his strength, or is he trying to lay low? It is a risky plan, but by not covering your base with a barrier, you can lay low without getting noticed by a mana search spell.

I smile at him and see him serve other customers that begin to walk inside his store. I pick up the cup of coffee and take a sip. The first thing I notice is the aroma of the coffee. I can smell the roasted coffee bean inside my cup.

When the coffee gets inside my mouth, it explodes, and my tongue gets bombarded with a flavor. The Coffee flavor is strong, but it was not too strong for my taste. This is delicious.

I put down my cup and take the small fork. I take some of the cheesecake and put it inside my mouth. If the coffee flavor explodes inside my mouth, then this cake coats my tongue with a gentle flavor that makes me melt.

"Hmmm~"

I unintentionally release a moan of delight.

"Oh my~ This is delicious."

"Thank you."

"Can I ask how you made these?"

"Sadly, no. That is the house secret."

"Aw~"

I should bring Tobi-kun here! He is always grumpy since his espresso machine broke. Now… How to make a workaholic person get away from his workplace. This will be hard.

I snap from my thoughts when my phone vibrates. I take it out of my pocket and begin to read the message I got.

It looks like old Mephisto already asked heaven if they sent their envoy to Kuoh, but it looks like they did not do that. Meaning that Chris has the holy power within him. However, for some reason, I cannot feel it.

I'm not a sensor magician, but I can sense a magician from far away if I concentrate enough. Hmmm.. Or maybe he has sacred gear? I need to investigate this more.

*Tring*

"Oh! Koneko! Come on in. Also, you brought a friend?"

"En. This is Buchou…."

"I think I can introduce myself, Koneko-chan."

I look at the newest guest and widen my eyes. I know those people. The redhead is one of two governments appointed by the Queen of Youkai after the Youkai and Devil sign the alliance pact.

"Good morning, Hanazawa-san. My name is Rias Gremory."

"Please call me Chris."

"Then please call me Rias."

"Very well. So! What can I do for you, Rias?"

The one that answers Chris' question is the little girl. I know she is a Youkai. I can feel her energy.

"Five chocolate lava cakes, twenty-five chocolate chip cookies, and three slices of strawberry mousse cake."

"Got it. Eat here or take out?"

"Take out. One Chocolate Mint Frappe and two brownies. Eat here."

"Are you having a party? You did not eat these alone, did you? You eat all of this with your friend, right? Because eating too much sweat is not good for your health."

She lied. For a girl her size, she sure can eat a large amount of food. She wants to eat it all by herself.

"Fufufufu~ Of course, Koneko-chan will share that food with her friend. Right, Koneko-chan?"

I ignore them ordering their food and drink and continue to enjoy my own food and drink. I snap from my thoughts when the sister of the strongest satan sits next to me.

"So, what made the Demise Girl arrive in my town? I thought you would have been gone by now. Your mission has been cleared. Can I ask the reason one of the top attack dogs of Grauzauberer is coming to my town?"
