Chapter 94
Aaliyah
I dreamed of my baby.
I was sitting on soft grass, holding him in my arms. His eyes were pale blue, his skin light, and his hair curly.
He smiled, warming my heart. I wanted to stay here, where it was peaceful. This place was calm, with no sign of trouble. I wanted to be here with my baby. A breeze swept across my face. I heard footsteps, and when I turned, I saw Tristan.
"It's cold out here," he said. "I brought you a jacket."
I nodded, but as I looked back at my baby, my eyes widened. My hands were covered with blood. My baby was gone.
…
The pain was unbearable. I couldn't understand; I couldn't make sense of what was happening. I shuddered, as if my body were trying to reject the pain. I saw a light ahead, but no matter how much I tried to crawl toward it, I was sucked into the darkness.
I tried to stop the pain. It hurt so much. It felt like a knife slicing through my throat.
