Having escaped the prospect of having to stand on the side of the defendant for their own transgressions, Cindy and Jade were witnesses in the cases against Grant Mgabi's associates. They were there to add depth to the statement already given by Grant which was going to serve as the nails to his associates' crosses.

When their time arrived, they took the stand and felt the discomfort of the cross section. But they just about survived and achieved their objective. They had been properly readied by Victoria, the lead prosecutor who had laid her arms down having come to the realization that their needs were intertwined. They needed to down the beasts that had been causing havoc in the community.

The trial was quick and in three days, the jury sat for deliberations. The state's case had been solid, as had been the evidence. But all the opposing side needed was a drop of reasonable doubt to stain the glass full of clear water.
