Chapter Twenty-Four: Then she happened.

With Cindy safely tucked into his bed, he took a blanket and pillow and set off to find comfort for the night elsewhere. She was still awake but was lying on her side, away from facing him. They were back in his apartment, the place where his uncertainty had driven a wedge between them and resulted in her set of wrong decisions. 

It felt awkward to her being here, especially under these circumstances. She calculated that he was at the door and the sounds confirmed her suspicions. Her heart throbbed, she intended to stop him and invite him to join her but it would be a while before she would be comfortable sharing a bed with a man.
