Chapter Fifty-Four: Not skanks, like us.

Jake stuttered. Faced with a question which he very well knew the answer to, he did not know how to say it. 

"Cindy?" he said.

"Yes, Cindy."

He forged a smile to try and make it seem as if he was in control of the situation. He wanted to know how she had come to know of Cindy, but he did not know how to ask. Also, such a question wasn't going to answer her question. He would be clearly dodging it, and it would make him feel somewhat…dodgy.

"Oh I overheard you and Hazel having a conversation one day when you called her," she eased his scattering nerves. "I just heard, wasn't eaves dropping."

Now he wondered how much she had heard. The amount of information determined the amount he would need to give to keep his situation with Cindy sufficiently vague. Then he thought, the best way was to tell the truth.

"Cindy is starring in someone else's movie now," he said, "we are not even talking anymore."
