Memories

I kept falling.

The falling seemed to never end. I cried out and tried to hold out my arms to stop my body from flying so roughly, but the spinning didn't stop.

Just as I was freaking out that something wrong had happened, I saw land approaching. I braced myself as I felt. Surprisingly, I felt pretty lightly.

I looked over my shoulder. There was no portal there anymore.

Looking around, I remembered my surroundings. A feeling of home came over me and I started running in the field towards the village.

The streets were full of animals and people that I thought I would never see again. Madam Ellie was at my parent's clothing shop and I rushed towards her.

"Ellie! It's me!" I exclaimed.

She whirled around and her eyes widened.

"Gretchen!!" She cried. My dad poked his head out the door and his eyes glistened when he saw me. He tossed down the wool he was holding and went running towards me, crying out my name.

People were looking in our direction and gathering around.
