Chapter 41: The Hamptons

CHASE'S POV

By the time they arrived in Southampton, the late afternoon sun had stretched across the horizon, dotting the sky with wispy white clouds. Barclay turned the Mercedes truck down a paved stone road, either side of the road lined with tall oak trees. White lights were tangled in the trees, every branch lit and twinkling in the dusky sky.

The road seemed miles long before they were met by two huge black iron gates. The iron gates swung open upon their approach and after another quarter mile, the house came into view.

Chase's jaw dropped at the grandeur of the Devlin's country estate. Slightly elevated on a low hill, it was surrounded by well-manicured green lawns. Ivy crawled its way up the front and sides of the soft gray and white flagstone mansion. Soft light glowed from its beveled glass windows, casting beams of light on the front lawn.
