Chapter 38: Chad, Lies and Videotapes

GREY'S POV

Barclay didn't budge. He still had the gun directed at Chad, his grip steady and unwavering. The room fell silent and all Chad heard was the hammering thud of his own heart.

"I've been running a gambling ring, you know, placing bets on the ponies? I was skimming from the top and I got behind. I couldn't pay out every win and people started looking for me. One of my clients said he would bail me out if I did him a favor."

"What was the favor?" Grey asked frostily.

Chad shuffled in his seat. "I had to take the security footage and get rid of it."

"Did you?"

He nodded.

"What was on the tapes?"

"I never saw it. I just deleted the time frame he asked me to."

Grey could feel bile rise in his throat as he thought about the man's hands around his wife's throat and how scared she'd been. He had to swallow hard to keep from throwing up.

"Who was the client?"
