The best bride for him
[ Past weeks back in France ]
The moment the hospital elevator closed, Alex felt his tears surging out of his already red eyes. He never felt so vulnerable. He fell. Alex fathomed that this was his karma biting him back.
The salty water kept whisking.
Complete silence surrounded him from every corner. Everything turned a massive blur for him.
He didn't realise when but he had arrived at his destination, the VVIP floor. The door opened up with a ding.
Swiftly getting up from his crouching position, he got up and dusted off himself. Alex harshly scrubbed his traitorous burst of tears. He looked and checked his appearance in the translucent reflective mirror wall of the lift.
Satisfied at him, he got out of the elevator.
He took big and quick strides. Stopping by the last room of the hallway, 207. He knocked on the door.
"Why is it so quiet inside? Did the Boss calm down old madam?" He wondered to himself.
He fixed his suit and glasses for the last time, "I will only know that if I get inside."
He heard a come inside sound. It was Felix, his boss. He sighed in relief. He didn't realise that he held back his breath.
He inhaled a deep breath and pushed the door aside.
________
Alex saw his boss lying on the white hospital bed. He supported his back on the big fluffy pillows.
Felix kept mum and so did his grandmother. No one spoke. The thickened sickness could be cut with a scissor. Alex thought he would be greeted with an emotional scene but alas his boss was far from the concept of emotions.
He walked over to his other side and stood by there. He noticed an IV drip attached to his right hand. Different fruits cut for him were placed on a plate on his left side.
He felt suffocated. He could discern the heaviness of the atmosphere.
He glanced at the pair of the grandmother and her grandson.
"Boss….how are you now?"
No response.
"Old Madam, may I go and get you something to drink?"
Again no response.
Frustration oozed from Alex then he also decided to join them in their 'Silence game'. He made himself comfortable on the chair on the left side of Felix's bed.
"Ahh…khaa"
Felix's grandma coughed. Immediately, a glass of water was presented to her.
Nothing could change the love and affection deeply engraved in one's heart for their family. Felix was no exception to this.
Felix did feel angry when his grandma started to lecture him without listening to him like usual. Whenever the topic was related to his health, no one in his family heeded to him.
He chewed his lips as he recalled how his grandmother had barged inside his room and woken him up from certainly the most beautiful dream he ever had up till now.
___________
The old lady marched to Felix's hospital room with menacing steps. She witnessed the two bulky bodyguards standing on guard outside.
Quirking her eyebrows at them when they didn't move aside.
"Move", she said in an impatient tone.
They hesitated since their boss had told them not to let anyone go inside besides him and the doctors. Doctors who were assigned to the patient and would have to show them a special permission slip for entrance.
Later they found out that the patient on the other side of the room is their Boss Louis's childhood best friend and they have to follow the rules and avoid any mishaps otherwise the consequences would be hazardous.
Fear crept up to their spine as both bodyguards remembered how hard Louis's expressions were as he explained everything personally to them.
"Sorry, Madam. We can't."
One of them tried to state but it came out as a whimper. Even he couldn't realise why he felt so afraid of them.
The old lady's bodyguards were a tad bit on the leaner side than Louis's huge gigantic men. Yet it didn't lessen the intensity in their eyes. They reckoned it must be their aura and nothing more and arrogantly stared at the two lean men behind the lady.
The lady shook her head, "I don't have time to teach you."
She sidestepped and just as a flash of the camera, the two bulky men found themselves lying on the hospital floor and withering in pain.
Those victims couldn't fight since they didn't expect the lady's bodyguard to have this unbelievable speed and accuracy.
As their kicks and punches targeted the vulnerable body parts that could procure them immense pain with less hard work.
They hit on their neck, the famous karate chop and paralysed them.
The old lady glimpsed at them, "Don't judge a book by appearance. This quote is valid for books too."
Her men put them away from their way to the room.
"Old Madam", one of her men pulled the door open for Felix's grandmother.
Felix had been provided with a VVIP room. Hence he didn't hear the outside commotion as each VVIP was equipped with soundproof walls, to ensure that their patients paying a hefty amount would recuperate without any nuisance. Although the hospital Felix had been taken to was the best one in France.
The Life Care hospital followed strict rules and regulations. They don't take any chances with the life of their patients and providing the perfect medical care to everyone was their top priority.
The hospital came under Mike's family Pharmaceuticals. Their hospital branches were widely spread out all around the globe. They were the leading corporation in the medical field.
______________
The old lady's aged eyes moistened as she saw the drip connected to her grandson.
It aches her yet she steeled her heart as she knew that if she doesn't enlighten her grandson about the outcomes of forgetting his health.
She was aware that her grandson had sensed her presence however, he attempted to be asleep to avoid her.
She smirked at him, 'Felix Carter, you might have forgotten who your grandmother is.'
She loudly banged her cane on the floor as she walked near to him.
"You can send your daughter here. My grandson is fine now. I would be very glad to have her as my daughter in law. Yes, Shanaya would be the best bride for him."
"I won't marry her even if she is the last girl on the earth."
Felix declared. Resentment and bitterness were visible in his voice.
