Chapter 75: Military System

Chao Qiang appeared and half kneeled "My lord the [Lonely Village] and [No school Village] have lost the battle"

Yang Feng was surprised to see the battle end so quickly so he asked: "How much did other side suffer??"

Chao Qiang replied "My lord other side hasn't suffered too much but due to the last stand made by the leader of the [Lonely Village] they faced heavy casualties"

Yang Feng nodded and said "I guess the two villages have now been absorbed by the other two villages and in my opinion, they are at least Mid-level village maybe even top-level village. I should now pay more attention to those two villages they might become an obstacle in our plan"

Chao Qiang looked at his lord and suggested: "My lord why don't we create conflict between them??"

Yang Feng thought about his suggestion and actually liked his suggestion. Chao Qiang had the ability to transform into any person and could impersonate them. He could likely transform into one of their important NPC and create misunderstanding. After creating misunderstanding they could slowly create conflict between them and eventually have them fight with each other.

Yang Feng stood silently and said "For now you observe their movements and wait for further orders"

Chao Qiang nodded and left.

Yang Feng speculated both [Shadow village] and [Hidden village] may end up fighting each other. There can't be two lions in a forest after all. Even creating conflict between them was the best option. Maybe the news of him conquering two villages has already been spread and likely other villages have started to pay more attention. Maybe the [Shadow village] and the [Hidden village] have already started to take countermeasures against him. But for now, Yang Feng didn't need to worry about them. He had to stabilise the situation and improve his military.

He currently had

258 [Rookie soldier]

84 [Trained soldier]

9 [Experienced soldier]

1 [Veteran soldier]

The [Rookie soldier] rank soldiers were immediately sent to train. Yang Feng wanted to each of the [Rookie soldier] rank soldiers to advance to [Trained soldier] rank. If his soldiers were able to accomplish it there would be few sovereigns who would be able to contend against his armies right now. Yang Feng now hoped to create a military system.

The military system would be mostly based on merits of course.

Yang Feng also made a required qualification like if a person wanted to become a captain he should have the rank of [Experienced soldier] while to become a vice-captain he should have the rank of [Trained soldier]. Of course, some people would be given the rank of captain or vice-captain if he is far more talented than others. The cultivation realms won't matter in military rank as such people with lower cultivation will have the opportunity to display their talents.

For now, he created only the qualifications needed to be captain or vice-captain because he currently had only a small army so currently, it would be easier for Yang Feng to control. A team would have a member of 10 and in each team, there would be a captain and a vice-captain. If the captain is not present then the vice captain would take charge and the vice-captain also had the rights to report if the captain is not competent enough.

Yang Feng also assigned Guang Fai as the officer, Chen An as the captain of archers, Yun Zhong as captain of infantry soldiers. Guang Fai would also be monitoring the captain's behaviour and reporting to

Yang Feng to keep them in check. This was just the first step of creating a military system, there was still a very long way he could create a reliable military system.

The reason Yang Feng wanted to create a military system so early was that he wanted the people to adapt to this system as soon as possible. There was once a story when a sovereign was dependent on his NPC too much. He had granted him many things and power too and when the update finally happened the sovereign soon realised the NPC couldn't be fully trusted so he tried to strip the power he had granted. Unsurprisingly the NPC refused to let go of the power he was granted and it soon resulted in Civil strife and other sovereigns took this opportunity and conquered his territory. Yang Feng didn't want to happen this to him as such he had to be careful. Fortunately, Ling Tian was a battle-hungry person who only cared about fighting and wasn't interested in politics otherwise with his power Yang Feng could expect a rebellion.

Also, Yang Feng had only seen him fight but he never witnessed his commanding ability. Yang Feng wanted a general who was calm in the battlefield, have the ability to control and manage his soldiers, think hundred times in mere seconds before he charged. Ling tian was calm but Yang Feng didn't know if he could control and manage soldiers. Ling Tian was a loner who barely talked with anyone if Yang Feng wasn't his lord Yang Feng was sure he wouldn't even spare a glance to him.

Yang Feng had to test his leadership ability if he wanted him to become a general.

Ling Tian's profession was a general but that doesn't mean he is qualified to become a general because actions speak louder than words. Even if he is an X rank grade Yang Feng won't be bootlicking him. Only by action would Yang Feng grant him the rank of general like others. He only had granted the rank of officer to Guang Fai because he was far wiser than others, he had granted the rank of captain of archers to Chen An because he was the best archer and knew the best about archery in the whole town, he had granted the rank of captain to You Zhong because he was patient with his attack and was a wise person. He had only granted them the ranks because they were worthy.
