In Spider-Man style, Sam and Makima passed through one of the hell gates. In this scenario, Sam played the role of M.J, while Makima took on the persona of Spider-Man.
He would definitely leave this part out of his legendary biography. What would people think when they found out that his girl was doing the heavy lifting while he played the damsel in distress? Makima might receive praise for her actions, but he would undoubtedly face mockery.
After passing through the gate, Sam found himself exiting through a door. In front of him was a building filled with people hiding under tables. He glanced back at the door he had come through.
'Staff room.'
Confused, he scratched his head. He could barely sense any devils here besides Makima.
"I know what you're thinking," Makima said, "but leave your questions for later."
"I wasn't going to ask any," replied Sam, shaking his head to dismiss his absurd ideas. One of those ideas was that passing through this door would lead to hell. Imagine the benefits of accessing a highly rewarding dungeon like hell repeatedly. His levels would skyrocket, even more than they already had.
"Why are you obsessed with killing devils?" Makima asked as they started walking out of the building.
"You don't see me killing Kon or the curse devil," Sam said, "and besides, you are the one who hired me to do that."
"Why didn't you mention me?" she asked.
"I don't even like to think about that," Sam replied. Well, in the past, he might have considered the idea. He had done so but dismissed it as stupid since she could easily kill him, even now.
Makima's cheek turned a bit red, and she quickly turned her head to look out of a window.
"I guess we could get there quicker this way," Sam said, wrapping his arms around Makima.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"This." Lightning surrounded them. Using his super speed, Sam ran and jumped between buildings, reaching the building of public safety, which was now destroyed.
BOOM BOOM
Series of explosions could be seen in the distance. The sound of gunfire echoed from afar. It was evident that the devil hunters were being surrounded. It wouldn't take a miracle to realize that it was the assassins from different nations after Denji, who stood in the middle, transforming into the chainsaw man hybrid form.
Reze was in her devil hybrid form, blowing up everyone who tried to get nearer. Seeing her like that, Sam could tell how terrifying Makima's power was.
"Come on, everyone! If you are a man, you'll die!" Denji yelled.
"By the way, you may need this," Sam stopped on top of a building nearby. He reached into his pocket and grabbed something—a crystal-like flesh that was pulsating.
"Huh?" Makima tilted her head.
"I don't know. It's something I pulled out of the Hell Devil's chest. I've done it to many devils."
"Why are you giving it to me?"
"I don't know. I thought it would boost your power or something."
"I don't need this. But I won't reject it since it's from you," Makima sighed. She took the crystal, opened her mouth, and asked, "Why were you collecting these in the first place?"
"Usually, I feed the fox devil, and she gives me discounts. From the devils I killed in hell, I collected small souvenirs. But hey, I left you the best."
"You are showing too much interest in that fox." Makima put her face next to his, "Should I be worried?"
"No," Sam said, pointing his head to where the devil hunters were fighting, "Anyway, we're not done."
"Do you wanna see something cool?" Makima asked, taking a step further and looking at the location of the fight. Sam nodded. She smiled and pointed with her finger at a group of people shooting guns. As her finger shook, those people vanished from existence, leaving only blood behind. Makima then looked at others, and she slammed her hand down. A huge palm mark appeared on the ground, squeezing the humans who were standing on it beyond recognition.
Sam knew that he couldn't complain. After all, he killed her race in front of her too, and she didn't complain. Besides, he would have done the same, but maybe not as cruel or effective.
In no time, the situation was under control. All of the assassins that had been after Denji were neutralized.
"So, what do you think?" said Makima, putting her hands behind her back and looking at Sam's face for any reaction. Sam, because he had seen a lot in his underground life, had learned to control his facial expression. But inside, his heart kept beating. So that's her power. She's definitely stronger than the Hell Devil. No wonder she didn't seem interested in a piece of his flesh.
Sam gave her a thumbs up. "Couldn't have done it better myself." He had no other words.
On the bright side, his mission was successful. Denji was still breathing, and he had his heart in its place.
Sam heard the notification.
