Let's Play Another Game

This little girl was really so immersed in playing my role that made me feel impressed by her. I knew they had learnt to fight, secretly of course, by wooden sticks as swords in the barn I used to hide my own stuff there.

If Entely knew about that, she might act recklessly against those three, but I wouldn't tell her, and no one of them would say a word.

"Ok, Let's go then," I reluctantly said, as I walked towards the nearby dark spot in the wall.

The more I approached it, the bigger it became. This hole wasn't naturally made, as I noticed the smooth edges of the hole once I reached there. someone had already dug it, and when I entered this short tunnel, I found many remains there.

A battle had erupted not long ago, and it seemed the invaders were killed, as many of the armors and clothes of these dead weren't of my kingdom's knights or soldiers' uniforms.

Should I go out? I asked myself while glancing at the nearby opening. The tunnel was almost dark, only lit dimly by the weak light of the stars in the sky.

Beyond that opening right there, lands I never stepped upon existed!

"C'mon, grab these shiny big things and make me marvel them, hurry up!"

The little punny behind me bellowed in extreme impatience and great excitement. I only smiled, shook my head helplessly, as I was wondering why I was hesitating!

Wasn't that one of my long list of dreams already? Why was I hesitating then?

"Wait on a second," I said, while leaning on one of the dead bodies here, endured the stench smell, and took the sword immersed in dirt, hiding most of its shiny long pointed sword.

It wasn't as heavy as my original sword, but I was sure it was much heavier than the wooden sticks used by these little girls.

"Bring that sword to me," she asked again, but I totally ignored her. I went to the front, with each step crushing over dirt and some pieces of dead fragmented bones, until I reached the other end of this tunnel.

I stayed there, hiding in the darkness of the tunnel, while glancing and checking over the world outside. The whole world wasn't so different than the one inside the walls, so vast, so dark, and heavily silent.

I didn't rush back, and stayed there for a couple of minutes, observing any single move anywhere. However, after the passage of a couple of minutes, the three little devils moved already to me, dragging their ponies and my horse to stand a few steps behind my back, while mimicking my experienced moves, and observing the world outside.

I just side glanced at them and was pretty sure they didn't know what they were doing right now. they were just following my lead, doing exactly as I did, even my arched back they also did, making me smile despite trying to be angry!

"Listen up, your highness, my knights," I said, playing along their little game, "these lands are outside our rule, our soldiers can't be there to protect us," I said, trying to demote them from going there, as I finally added my father's one of the favorite words, "danger doesn't have eyes to differentiate between your beauty and the ugliness of this world. so, we should stay safe and not leave."

"No way, we came all the way here, we have swords, I have the three of my courageous knights, why should I be afraid of just stepping a couple of steps forward?" the little punny retorted back, as she mistook my words, my father's words, as part of the game!

I smiled again, and this time, helplessly, I decided to follow this game and move into the outside world.

The moment I stepped forward, I smelled the cold refreshing air of the night. Strangely enough, it was different, it smelled great and comfy, with no sense of danger anywhere!

I sighed, as it seemed staying so long confined to my coffin, called palace, had made me such a coward! I always dreamt of venturing outside alone, breaking all the rules, being free from their cage, and now as I was doing all that, I was still thinking about their warnings, silly stupid empty threats that the outside world wasn't a piece of heaven, instead it was the real embodiment of hell itself!

I glanced again over the three little girls' shoulders, and all I could see around was the same world that I was just at inside the walls! No wars, no blood, and no enemies or threats of any kind!

"Listen up your highness, let's play another game here in this place of the world," I said, as I couldn't shake off the entire shackles of fears they planted inside me, "we need to speak quietly, move cautiously, and we need to impersonalize the identity of weak unimportant girls.

I know of four cousins living together in a place not far from here, let's take their identities. You will be called Jenny, and I will be called Entely, as for you, you will be called Oly, and you will be called Emma."

I tried to use the game against them, in a way this little punny would accept. As expected, her eyes got widened, shone with excitation as she waved her sword, weakly and slowly by her redundant muscles all over her slim arm, as she said:

"Let's do it! brilliant idea as always knight Rich… Ahem, Entely."

I laughed, and the two others laughed shortly with me. I pointed towards a distant group of trees, not so far from us, as I said:

"Let's go there then, your highness, ahem, I mean Jenny."

They smiled over my purposeful intentional mistake as we moved, dragging my rides, all towards the extended piece of forest up front.

When we went there, I used my sword, with my strong arm, and started cutting the branches blocking our way in. This was a very dark night, and I wanted not to miss the tunnel after moving so far, exploring this piece of the world.

I couldn't guarantee that this tunnel would be present next year, as the whole reparations of the walls would be finished by summer. So, this one month was my only chance to go out here, and I planned to make this month and these secret adventures unforgettable for me.
