Vera met a pair of shining green eyes. Someone seemed so happy to see her.
At the sight of him, her whole body had relaxed. Her eyes had found some of their genuine light, and her lips had curled up in a gentle smile. Any bad thought had left her mind, and she had found herself nodding at something he had asked.
She didn't even hear his words, but he must have asked her to sit down because he moved the chair in front of her at her gesture.
«So, what are you doing here?» he inquired.
«Work,» she said, cutting it short. Who cared about boring matters when she could use her wits to stare at him? Why talk, why think?
«What a pleasant coincidence,» he said.
«I don't believe in coincidences,» she chuckled. Was she acting like a teenager? Why?
But, most importantly, would that earn her points or detract? She didn't want to leave a bad impression, even if she knew their second coincidental meeting was likely the last. She had been lucky to find him the first time.
