When Petra wakes up from her coma, she finds out her fiance has left her for the person who had put her in that coma in the first place. She finds herself in St. Gregory Hospital, where more than meets the eye. It seems the staff at St. Gregory are ready to do anything to climb to the top-including doing the exact opposite of saving lives. Petra is hired after helping save the president's life, and she soon realizes that the hospital and its mysteries are about to turn everything she's ever thought of her identity upside down.
I was a man of astounding perception, yet the past week was nothing more than a blur- a smog circling like a swarm of bees. I was not supposed to add the word "feeling" into the dictionary of my life, yet that moment in the office was an apparent change of rules.
I was ashamed of putting Miss Veronica on some podium like she was some highly respected goddess. I was even more ashamed of my lack of indifference regarding the courses. She was plastered in my thoughts like a shroud to a corpse-sticking vehemently to the palace of my mind, a dodgy misdemeanor I had to conquer.
Unfortunately for my sanity, her storming into the office while I was speaking to Luke one day made my reasoning crumble to the floor.
"How dare you, bugger? How dare you deprive her of the mourning process?"
