"Olivia!!!" Rosaline screamed once I entered her room. Her face was so red, full of angryness. "You said with your plan we could eliminate that kid perfectly. But why is he still alive?! He even stole my son's position!"
Rosaline was so angry and frustrated because Francis, who was predicted to be dead after sparing, was still alive. Not only that, because he won the spar, everyone focused more on him than Roosevelt. Of course this was such a dangerous situation for her.
"I- I'm sorry your highness!" I knelt down, apologizing. "I'm sure that he was dying when I checked." I said, pretending that I really was in trouble. But in reality, of course I was so happy. It was so amusing to see her frustrated face.
"What happened to you Olivia?! You're not as good as you used to be! I regret trusting you, Olivia!"
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. "Come in!" A maid entered the room and delivered an envelope to Rosaline. There was the Gardson family's seal on top of the envelope. Was it good news or bad news? Based on the condition, I guess it was good news for me.
When the maid left the room, Rosaline picked a knife, opened the seal on the envelope and read the letter inside it. Her face hardened and she clenched her teeth tightly, as if she was holding her anger.
"Read it!" She gave me the letter. In his letter, Duke Gardson said that he refused to engage his daughter with Roosevelt. This was bad news for Rosaline, but good news for me. I had to pretend to be surprised right?
'Plak' Rosaline slapped me right on my right cheek. "Yo-your highness…" I touched my face as I looked at her. That was so hurtful. Only one slap, but my cheek was throbbing and my ears were ringing.
"Because of you every hard work goes in vain! You ruin everything Olivia!" She screamed so hard, then took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. "Go! Get out of my sight, Olivia!"
I stood up and bowed to her, then left. The only thing I had to do was solve my problem with Francis. Francis, please trust me that I was doing all these to protect you.
After walking for a while, I arrived at Francis' palace. Seemed like he just finished his class and was about to go to the secret garden. I walked faster and approached him. "Greetings, Prince Francis." I bowed to him.
"Greetings, Lady Whitley." He replied nicely. I knew he just acted as if there was nothing between us. "Let's go," he offered his hand, ready to escort me.
When we arrived at the garden, the mood became gloomy. I and Francis no longer held each other's hand, nor we smiled. We were only silent, thinking about our relation to each other.
"Both of you, you don't have to help me anymore. I thank you for helping me this far, but I want someone that I can trust. Someone who doesn't hide their identity." Francis finally spoke.
"Francis, I mean, your highness. I admit that I hid my identity, but Noah didn't. At least, can you keep him?"
Francis looked at me, "so you can keep monitoring me through him?!" He shouted. "You're the one I suspect the most, Olivia. I asked you to leave me because you have helped me a lot and you're my study partner. Don't you think it's actually too light for someone like you? Or should I just kill you?"
Noah knelt to Francis. "Your highness, I'm the one in the wrong here. I killed someone and she was your mother. If you want to punish someone, then it should be me. My lady did nothing wrong."
"Both of you don't understand what I mean." Francis sighed. "I really am angry at you, but I still consider how much you helped me so far. So I decided to stop working with you. Now, you can leave me alone."
"Your highness." I called him, who was just about to leave. "I will leave you as you wish. But please hear my last advice. It's up to you to trust me or not."
Francis just looked at me, without saying a word. "Keep this box with you. It will help you. You will understand once you open this box, but make sure to keep it secret." Francis took the box I gave.
"Next, please keep Noah with you. I promise I won't contact him. It's just, people know that he's your knight. If he stops with me, people will wonder what happened between us. If I leave alone, people will think it's normal since I'm from the Whitley family."
Francis nodded. "Alright. I will do as you say. I will keep Noah with me. This is the last time I will follow your suggestion. You may go, Lady Whitley." He left me.
"Noah, follow and guard Prince Francis as usual. I will go for now. Take care of our prince." I left him. At least, that was the only thing I could say to him.
"Yes, lady." He bowed to me, then followed Francis. "Please take care my lady."
That time, I didn't have anything to do left at the palace. I wasn't Francis' study partner anymore. So I left the palace. "Return back to the mansion." I said to the coachman.
Along the way back, I was thinking about my next step. It was a good thing that Francis won the spar, that was part of my plan. But I never expected that he would know the fact that I was Charlize. What should I do to get his trust? He didn't know and didn't want to know my whole reason for my action. For the time being, I just hopped for him to use the box I gave him. There was still a possibility that he would ask for my help.
When I arrived at the mansion, the carriage stopped. I just stepped out from the carriage, but there were three guards blocking my way. "What are you doing? Blocking my way?"
Without saying a word, two of the three guards grabbed my hands and dragged me. "Where are you taking me to?!" I shouted as I struggled to free myself. But those guards were too strong for me. All I could do was just follow them, to reduce the pain on my hands.
A few minutes later, I realized that I was taken to the prison. Was I caught? But how? Was it because Francis was still alive or someone knew my plan? Lydia, was you behind this? I suspect you the most.
