It was finally Saturday, the day of the party that everyone at Kim Hugh has been hyping. I'll have to witness it for the first time. I wore a black satin slip low cut dress that my mum had bought for me when I was 17 for parties, but I never got invited because everyone at my college in Florida believed I was crazy, but the dress still fits. I was a little uneasy in a satin low cut dress, so I improvised by wearing an oversized jean jacket off the shoulder, I chose a radiant glam look with a shimmery eye shadow, channeling my inner Arianna Grande. I'm not very skilled at styling my hair, so I'm limited to a messy bun and letting my hair down. I straightened my hair.
Lizzie, who had put on a tank top underneath a sheer top, jean trousers, and her hair was done into a blowout., said with a slight smile, "let me help you style it," but I didn't return the smile because I was still upset with her.
She didn't look me in the eyes while she styled my hair into a lovely half-updo with braided chains at the peak. When I glanced in the mirror, I saw a spitting image of my mum rather than the typical pitiful Jessie.
I only muttered "thanks" to her before rising from the vanity stool and exiting the dorm. Girls dressed more attractively than I had anticipated, in various themes, but I think I preferred ours.
. Lizzie and I parted ways as we exited the dorm and walked to the campus grounds. I could see Howie and the others waving at me from afar, so I went up to hug Howie, Elina, Toby, and the others. I even tried meeting Kil, but he simply ignored me as usual, and I believe I'm getting used to his snooty behavior. I immediately smiled at Iago, who was dressed in a retro-style black sweatshirt with light grey pants, which made him appear a little different from his usual dismal outfit; he just gazed at me as if there was something strange about my appearance or my dress style.
"Chic dress, Howie," I replied, admiring Howie's badass outfit, a strapless white lace flowery mini jumpsuit that revealed her cleavage.
"You don't look bad either, Jess," she said, making me flush.
Jake wasn't with us at first, but he soon joined us, dressed in a Coevals Club shirt and 501 Levi's jean with a hint of Foster gunmetal polarized sunglasses, and all he did was smile and divert his attention away from me, as if to say, "I know that dress."
Today was meant to be a fantastic day, therefore I needed to clear my head straight away.
We entered the hallway where the party was booming, to the song "Leave Before You Love Me" by the Jonas Brothers feat. Marshmello welcomed us, the hall was packed with students, nothing like I expected, dancing and having a good time, and refreshments were offered.
I didn't realize I'd left where the others were as I was admiring how the party seemed so lit, my back touching another figure's back as I turned to gaze the other way. I felt odd and turned to face the person, and saw the grocery guy looking so hot in his sturdy and stylish bomber jacket and a Revtown jet black jean, what fascinated me the most was the way he was able to match his blonde hair with his outfit and it made him look attractive. I was speechless as my cheeks heated, and I noticed he was wearing a similar expression as well. When we turned the other direction, my cheek was hot and crimson because I had never seen anyone look that hot in a bomber jacket before.
I wasn't sure where I was going in the crowd, but I needed to find others. Luckily, I noticed a small group of students seated at a large table and was able to find them among the people.
"This is a movie trivia drinking game, therefore the simple rule is that if you fail, you must drink a shot of Tequila," a familiar voice stated, and I looked up and realising that it was Iago, who spotted me gazing and continued, "no one is exempted."
Everyone seemed to be pleased about it, but I wasn't going to participate because I couldn't handle the thought of repeating the mistakes my dad had done.
Drinking is something I vowed I'd never do; I won't do it to please my pals, even if I have a fondness on one of them.
"Are you leaving again?" Howie exclaimed, folding her arms across her laps.
"I don't drink, so I'm not interested in playing the game," I explained quietly.
"Oh c'mon Jess, it's only a game," Elina said, pouting her lips.
"I'm sorry, but I can't. I'm just gon na hang around and maybe get a Chapman, I said quickly as I stood up and walked away.
I was confused when I found myself at the bar aisle, where Lizzie was also present. I wasn't thrilled to see her there, "still upset with me?," she mumbled before breaking into bitter laughing.
“You’re being… ridicu-lush… ’m not that drunk…”, she muttered as she downed a shot of Tequila after adjusting her specs.
"What are you doing, Lizzie?" I asked as I pulled the shot of vodka from her grasp and downed it so she wouldn't feel the need to grab it from me. And that made me realize how amazing Tequila actually tastes, and I kept asking the bartender for more and more as he continued pouring more for me. I felt amazing, as if all of my worries had vanished.
Lizzie was chuckling as I requested for even more, “Whatcha got there? ‘Nother drink? You ‘bout’a get hammered!”, she said, and we both laughed.
I wasn't sure how many shots I'd consumed; all I knew was that it was more than a first-time drinker should drink. Everything went blurry.
