Chapter 2 CHAPTER

Her eyes snapped open and she saw a light coming from the young boy who is wearing a black hooded jacket bravely hitting the bear with a stone. When he luckily hit the eye of the bear, she heard the impact of the hard blow. The bear yelp and run away from them.

Then there was an awkward silence. Instantly, tears of happiness flowed hotly on her temple. She had never been relieved in her whole life.

"Miss are you okay?" the young boy walked towards her and help her stand up from the ground.

"I'm not okay. I feel scared!" Hot tears rolled down on her cold cheek again and the young boy comforted her as he wipes away her tears.

"You're shivering." He took off his jacket and put it around her and she welcomed the comforting heat of his jacket. She tried to see his face but it was too dark and her vision gets a little blurry.

He started walking ahead of her and she silently followed him. They used his flashlight to light their way going back to the camp site.

"What are you even doing here in the middle of the forest?" The boy started asking her.

"I followed the rabbit who took my lollipop!"

"What?! Are you fucking insane! You risk your life just for a lollipop? Are you stupid or what?" the boy stops from waking and face her.

"I didn't know there's a wild bear here! They said it was a safe place to camp in! Besides, it was my favorite duh!" She snapped at the boy.

"Of course there were wild animals here! It's a forest duh!" he mimicked her. "What do you expect duh!"

"Stop copying me! I told you I didn't know! How about you? What are you doing here?"

"I am with my family. I was going back from taking pictures when I heard you scream." he answered and started walking again.

"Oh, I forgot to thank you. Thank you for saving my life. You're my hero now. I'm Choi Aera by the way, and you are?"

"I'm Jeon..." But before he could finish what he was about to say, they heard gunshots coming from the camp site. They were shocked and Aera screamed at the top of her lungs.

She run towards the site and started calling for her mom and dad and Ericka but before she could get any further, the boy grabbed her hand and covered her mouth.

He dragged and pulled her away hiding themselves at the back of the huge tree. They sat down as he turned off his flashlight and whispered to her ear.

"I'll remove my hand from your mouth but please be quiet okay?" she nodded and he removed his hand immediately. She hiccuped as she controlled herself from sobbing.

She covered her ears with both of her hands as the gunshot getting louder and louder. When it stopped, they heard footsteps walking towards them. They spotted two shadowed man holding a gun.

Her body trembled from fear. Tears streamed down her face as she buried her face on the young boy's chest.

"There's no one here! Let's get back to the site!" the first man started complaining.

"But I heard a scream of a girl! I'm sure of it!"

"She might be eaten by wild animals if she won't get out from here until tomorrow! Let's go!"

" Okay! But what would we tell to boss? He will definitely ask us if we killed everyone!" The second man keeps insisting to find the girl.

"Then tell him we killed everyone! Idiot!" When they walked away from them, her body relaxed a little bit but still feels sorrow upon hearing that they killed everyone.

"Who were they? They said they killed everyone! Did they also kill my family?" her body stiffened. She can't imagine her life living without her family.

"I don't know! I really don't know!" His tears started streaming down his face as well. "Let's just stay here for a while and get back after we're sure that they were all gone."

Aera started to cry thinking her mom and dad were dead including Ericka. The boy patted her back gently while he wiped the tears away from her eyes. She leans on his chest and hugs him. He hugged her back running his fingers into her long blonde hair.

She had no one to lean on except him. Her young and innocent mind didn't understand what was happening. She looks up and sees the fear from his eyes. A pool of tears that he's fighting to fall down were seen. She holds his cheek and a tear just fall down. And she wiped it with her long fingers.

"It's okay to cry." she kissed his face and leaned back to his chest and they both cry silently.

After about an hour of waiting, the boy held her hand as he helped her to stand up. And together, they walked back towards the camp site with fear and rage in their hearts.

She let go of his hand when she saw the green tent that her parents were staying. As she come nearer, her heart pounded with anxiety and terror. She saw their dead bodies pooled with blood. She shooks her head and her body tremble as she sobbed loudly.

"Mommy! Daddy!" she was trembling. Dread and hysteria burned through her and she broke down sobbing. She doesn't know what to do, she just stayed kneeling down and crying while she hugs their dead body.

A couple of minutes had passed, she heard people coming towards her. They are the rescuers and officers who came from the city and a middle-aged woman came near her.

"Hi baby girl, I won't ask you if you're okay because I know you're not. Please come with me. Everything will be alright. You will only need to be check by our medical representatives."

She followed the woman and go with them. While on the boat riding back to the city, she looked around to see the boy who saved her but she can't find him. She only see rescuers that were riding in another boat and some survivors who luckily found a place to hide when the killing incident happened.

She wasn't able to return back the hoodie jacket to the boy who saved her. She held the hoodie tight like her life depended on it.
