Cadence Under Contract
Cadence Granbury is the highly skilled and experienced personal assistant to CEO James Oliver. Their relationship has been nothing but professional since Cadence started working for him two years ago. That is, until James receives an ultimatum from his ailing grandfather: get married or get very little! Unwilling to lose out on the bulk of his inheritance, James does everything in his power to expedite the process of finding a wife. Cadence unwittingly reveals herself to be the perfect marital candidate and James won't take no for an answer. Their marriage contract proves to be quite mutually beneficial.
Chapter 56 - Dinner and Goodbyes
Mrs. Garcia helped Peggy carefully bring in the wedding cake from the car outside. It was simple but elegant with fine piping work throughout that imitated lace. A gentle dusting of crushed Maria cookies lined the bottom of each tier, hinting at the flavors inside. The whole thing was topped with a rustic wooden silhouette of a bride and groom leaning in to share a matrimonial kiss. It was perfect in every way and only just barely fit in their recently emptied refrigerator. James's heart warmed when he saw Cadence's overjoyed reaction to it and he made sure to praise Peggy heartily for her flawless work. Looking at her beaming face, he realized how much he was genuinely looking forward to their wedding. Just having Cadence by his side was going to make it a great day.
