Chapter 5: Now, We're Talking

It was a long day and it took us almost twelve hours before I was officially enrolled. It was already late in the afternoon and my mom was still having a chat with a proffesor. They were talking about things I don't know and I was getting bored so I decided to wander around the school. 'This university is so huge. And I'm well impressed with their rooms.' I thought to myself. I was walking passed the soccer field when I saw Drew sitting alone on the benches. He seems to be sad. 'Is he crying?' I asked myself. 'I think you should go and see for yourself.' My subconscious replied. Yeah I think I really should. Even though he's rude, obnoxious and sarcastic, I know there's some goodness in him too. Maybe he's just afraid to show his better side. 'Go! He needs company.' My subconscious is trying to encourage me and I think I should go for it.

"Hey." I said and sat beside him.

"What are you doing here?" He sobbed. He is really crying.

"I was just walking around when I saw you sitting alone and I thought you needed some company." I replied.

"Aren't you mad at me?" He groaned.

"Uhm, yeah. But I'm not that evil. I just don't bury grudges in my heart." I uttered.

"Oh. Well I don't need company. You can go now." He blurted. I can't believe this guy.

"Everybody needs help, Drew. Even spiderman." I said, trying to stay calm.

"So you're a fan of Peter Parker huh?" He asked. Now we're talking.

"Kinda. He's cool. Him and Mary Jane are perfect for each other." I looked at him and his teary eyes catched my attention.

"And how did you know my name?" He stared at me and I just feel like a mixture of heat and blood is rising up to my chin. Am I blushing?

"Oh about that, Alex and I just happened to ride on the same bus this morning." I replied.

"Alex Foxx. I see." He smirked. Why does he always have to do that?

"What's with the smirk thing all about huh?" I groaned.

"Well let's just say, it's Drew Payne's thing." He grin a lil'.

"It's nice to see you laugh though." I stared at him for a second and looked away. "I don't want to intrude but why did you cry earlier?" I don't wanna messed this moment but my curiousity is already killing me.

"Why do you care?" He blurted.

"Why do you have to be so rude? You think pushing people away will solve your problem? Sorry but you're wrong." I whined. I was just about to stood up when his voice made me stop.

"Andrea just broke up with me. She's my ex by the way." He uttered in grief.

"Oh. Why?" I asked.

"She was... She cheated on me." His voice is quivering.

"I've been there." I responded. I felt a sudden ache in my heart. Memories of James came flooding in to my mind.

"I guess that makes us even." He giggled.

"I think so." I laugh. I was just about to say something when I was interrupted by my phone vibrating. It was message from my mom.

"Where have been?"

"I'm in the soccer field. Where are you?" I replied.

"I'm standing near the gate." She replied.

"Okay. Coming." I responded and turned my head to Drew.

"Hey I need to go now. My mom's waiting for me in the gate." I said to him.

"Oh. Okay. Well, take care." He smiled.

"You too. Send my regards to Peter Parker." I replied. He just laugh. I jog towards the gate and saw my mom standing near a pole.

"I'm hungry." I said.

"Yeah me too. Let's go grab something to eat. I know a place." She replied.

"You always do." I rolled my eyes and she chuckled.
